Seven patients with chronic scapholunate instability (Geissler grade 2-4) were treated by percutaneous placement of screws across the scapholunate joint after arthroscopic debridement of the remnants of the scapholunate ligament. In all seven cases, the screw caused partial destruction of the lunate and/or scaphoid requiring screw removal within 6 months. We no longer perform this procedure.
Journal of Orthopaedic Case Reports | Volume 1 | Issue 1 ABSTRACT Introduction Intraosseous ganglions, although share same pathology as the soft tissue ganglions are rare entities, further rare in carpals. Cases of intraosseous ganglions are reported in literature mostly in lower limbs and lunate among carpals, with treatment options ranging from curettage and grafting to calcium phosphate ceme...
Instability of the scapholunate joint is frequently manifested by wrist pain and is sometimes visualized by a 2 to 4 mm gap between the scaphoid and lunate. Surgical repairs have had limited success, in part due to the surgeon being unsure which ligament or ligaments have been torn until the time of surgery. Various methods have been used to describe this gap between the bones and various level...
Since brain does not fossilize, brain endocast (i.e., replica of the inner surface of the braincase, Figure 1) constitutes the only direct evidence for reconstructing hominin brain evolution (Holloway, 1978; Holloway et al., 2004a). In this context, paleoneurology has suffered from strong limitations due to the fragmentary nature of the fossil record and the absence of any information regarding...
INTRODUCTION Doing repetitive push-ups is among the most common exercise for the upper body and shoulder stabiliser muscle strength training. However, adverse effects such as neck pain, back pain, palmar pain and wrist pain have been reported. To date, to our knowledge, palmar pressure when performing push-ups has not been previously reported. We hypothesised that various hand positions during ...
