Kisspeptins (KPs) and their receptor (GPR54 or KiSS1R) play a key-role in regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and are therefore interesting targets for therapeutic interventions in the field of reproductive endocrinology. As dogs show a rapid and robust LH response after the administration of KP10, they can serve as a good animal model for research concerning KP signaling. The...

AIM To describe the relationship between the parenchymal pressure changes and the development of hydrocephalus in kaolininjected neonatal rats according to cerebral regions and time intervals of developing hydrocephalus. MATERIAL AND METHODS Neonatal rats aged 2 to 3 days were examined in 5 groups as kaolin frontal "K-F", kaolin parietal "KP", saline frontal "SF-F", saline parietal "SF-P" and...

Pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is a rare chronic inflammatory papulosquamous skin disease. Its clinical presentation and evolution is very variable. The most frequent clinical features are follicular papules, progressing to yellow-orange erythroderma with round small areas of normal skin and the well-demarcated palmoplantar keratoderma. Actually, six different types of PRP have been described b...

Concentrations of oxirane and naphthalene were determined using GC/Mass spectrometer (modelQP201 Plus Shimadzu), in effluent samples from four selected petroleum based industries in Kaduna metropolis, Nigeria, coded as KP, TL, OL(I) and OL(II). Oxirane was detected in the morning, afternoon and evening samples of OL(II), morning and afternoon samples of KP and afternoon samples of TL. While nap...

W algebras arise in the study of various nonlinear integrable systems such as: self-dual gravity, the KP and Toda hierarchies, their quasi-classical (or dispersionless) limit, etc. Twistor theory provides a geometric background for these algebras. Present state of these topics is overviewed. A few ideas on possible deformations of self-dual gravity (including quantum deformations) are presented.

AIM To compare polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of borrelial DNA and culture isolation of spirochaetes for the diagnosis of Lyme borreliosis by direct detection of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in patients with erythema migrans and acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans lesions. METHODS Skin biopsy specimens from erythema migrans and acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans lesions wer...

Recent work on a free field realization of the Hamiltonian structures of the classical KP hierarchy and of its flows is reviewed. It is shown that it corresponds to a reduction of KP to the NLS system.

A difference analogue of the logistic equation, which preserves integrability, is derived from Hirota’s bilinear difference equation. The integrability of the map is shown to result from the large symmetry associated with the Bäcklund transformation of the KP hierarchy. We introduce a scheme which interpolates between this map and the standard logistic map and enables us to study integrable and...

We derive the determinant representation and Hirota equations for the regularized correlation functions of the light-like coordinate operators ∼∏i Tr (X) li in the reductions to zero dimensions of the matrix models describing D-particles in various dimensions. We investigate in great detail the matrix model originally proposed by J. Hoppe and recently encountered in studies of D-particles in fo...

The Crystal Ball Spectrometer is being used at Brookhaven National Laboratory in a series of experiments which study all neutral final states of πp and Kp induced reactions. We report about the experimental setup and progress in obtaining new results for the radiative capture reactions πp → γn and Kp → γΛ,charge exchange πp → πn, two π production πp → ππn, and η production πp → ηn reactions. Da...
