a new three-dimensional unit cell model has been developed for modeling three constituent phases including inclusion, interphase and matrix. the total elastic modulus of nano-composite is evaluated.  numerical results are in good agreement with the previous proposed theoretical modeling. higher matrix and inclusion elastic modulus both can dramatically influence the total elastic modulus.

background avoidable mortality as an indicator for assessing the health system performance has caught the attention of researchers for a long time. in this study we aimed to compare the health system performance using this indicator in rural and urban areas of one of iran’s southern provinces.   methods all deaths (29916) which happened during 2004–2011 in bushehr province were assessed. nolte ...

The last hierarchical level of cellular genome organization is the spatial arrangement of chromosomes within the nuclear space. Despite of high regulatory potential and functional implications, issues concerning nuclear organization at chromosomal level are rarely addressed because of limitations in visualizing interphase chromosomes. The problem is especially seen when an attempt to associate ...

Wheat nuclei have a remarkably well defined interphase organisation, and we have made use of this to determine the relationship between interphase chromosome organisation, the positioning of specific transgenes and induced changes in DNA methylation and histone acetylation, using in situ hybridisation and confocal 3D imaging. After germinating seeds either in the presence of 5-Azacytidine (5-AC...

Six patients, five with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and one with a myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), were found to have monosomy 7 by conventional cytogenetics at diagnosis. Repetitive DNA sequences from the heterochromatic region of human chromosomes 1 and 7 were used as probes for in situ hybridization experiments on interphase cells of these patients. A double hybridization protocol was used ...

The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is a large protein assembly that mediates molecular trafficking between the cytoplasm and the nucleus. NPCs assemble twice during the cell cycle in metazoans: postmitosis and during interphase. In this study, using small interfering RNA (siRNA) in conjunction with a cell fusion-based NPC assembly assay, we demonstrated that pore membrane protein (Pom)121, a verteb...

Microtubules are essential for a variety of fundamental cellular processes such as organelle positioning and control of cell shape. Schizosaccharomyces pombe is an ideal organism for studying the function and organization of microtubules into bundles in interphase cells. Using light microscopy and electron tomography we analyzed the bundle organization of interphase microtubules in S. pombe. We...

Stereology of nucleoli at 3 different points of the cell cycle, in the middle of the Gu S and Gt of interphase, was accomplished in a naturally synchronous cell population rendered binucleate and thus 'labelled' and made identifiable by 1 h caffeine treatment in root meristems of AUium cepa L. Consistent structural changes were found so that nucleolar parameters by themselves can locate a cell ...

Microtubule depolymerization dynamics in the spindle are regulated by kinesin-13, a nonprocessive kinesin motor protein that depolymerizes microtubules at the plus and minus ends. Here we show that a single kinesin-13 homolog regulates flagellar length dynamics, as well as other interphase and mitotic dynamics in Giardia intestinalis, a widespread parasitic diplomonad protist. Both green fluore...
