We present revised infrared (2.2μm) astrometry of the field containing the Galactic microquasar GRS 1758−258, using observations at the Keck I 10-m telescope. We find three candidates for the microquasar within a 3σ error circle, but none within 2σ. We show that if the 18.4 day X-ray period of GRS 1758−258 is due to a binary orbit, then only one of the three candidates, an early K-type giant, i...
1.55-μm pulses with up to 12.5-mJ energy are generated from a four-stage KTPOPCPA and recompressed to 79 fs. By focusing these pulses into a noble-gas cell, we demonstrate single 4-mJ supercontinuum filaments supporting 8-fs pulses. ©2009 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (320.7110) Ultrafast nonlinear optics; (190.4970) Parametric oscillators and amplifiers. Sensitive and selective gas measurements are crucial for a large variety of applications, e.g., explosion protection. Optical gas detection is usually based on the gas’ absorption of infrared radiation (IR). It is the leading technique in terms of accuracy, reliability, and economic efficiency. Since most gas measurements are made in the two wavelength ranges of (3 . . . 5) and (8 . . . 14) μm,...
We report on initial measurements of the low-temperature thermal properties of a device that is similar to the experimental apparatus used for absolute cryogenic radiometry (ACR) within the Low Background InfraRed (LBIR) facility at NIST. The device consists of a receiver cavity mechanically and thermally connected to a temperature-controlled stage through a thin-walled polyimide tube which ser...
Machine learning has emerged as an invaluable tool in many research areas. In the present work, we harness this power to predict highly accurate molecular infrared spectra with unprecedented computational efficiency. To account for vibrational anharmonic and dynamical effects - typically neglected by conventional quantum chemistry approaches - we base our machine learning strategy on ab initio ...
power transformers are important equipments in power systems. thus there is a large number of researches devoted of power transformers. however, there is still a demand for future investigations, especially in the field of diagnosis of transformer failures. in order to fulfill the demand, the first part reports a study case in which four main types of failures on the active part are investigate...
We report the detection of 6.2μm polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) and rest-frame 4–7μm continuum emission in the z=4.055 submillimeter galaxy GN20, using the Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) on board the Spitzer Space Telescope. This represents the first detection of PAH emission at z>4. The strength of the PAH emission feature is consistent with a very high star formation rate of ∼1600M⊙ yr . ...
s / Brain Stimulation 10 (2017) e46ee83 e67 The linear-model formalism introduced here to explain the performance of conventional beamformers for correlated (brain or artifact) sources can be easily expanded to more than two sources, which will be done in our future study.
Infrared renormalons and 1/Q2 power corrections in deep-inelastic sum rules are studied. The renormalization of operators with power divergence are discussed. The higher-twist terms in the operator product expansion are shown to account for the residual soft contributions survived from the Kinoshita-LeeNauenberg type of cancellation in Feynman diagrams. The presence of some degree of arbitrarin...
