We describe a patient who experienced diffuse, treatment-refractory facial inflammatory reaction following the injection of calcium hydroxylapatite with lidocaine. The was attributed to undiagnosed Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Exogenous thyroid hormone replacement therapy rapidly resolved inflammation associated this type autoimmune hypothyroidism.
