The distribution of thermophilic marine sulfate reducers in produced oil reservoir waters from the Gullfaks oil field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea was investigated by using enrichment cultures and genus-specific fluorescent antibodies produced against the genera Archaeoglobus, Desulfotomaculum, and Thermodesulforhabdus. The thermophilic marine sulfate reducers in this environment co...
Thiosulfate formation and biodegradation processes link aerobic and anaerobic metabolism of cysteine. In these reactions, sulfite formed from thiosulfate is oxidized to sulfate while hydrogen sulfide is transformed into thiosulfate. These processes occurring mostly in mitochondria are described as a canonical hydrogen sulfide oxidation pathway. In this review, we discuss the current state of kn...
IN THE TITLE COMPOUND (SYSTEMATIC NAME 1,3,7-trimethyl-2,6-dioxo-7H-purin-9-ium hydrogen sulfate monohydrate), C(8)H(11)N(4)O(2) (+)·HSO(4) (-)·H(2)O, the crystal packing is stabilized through N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
The title compound, 2C5H7N5(2+)·2HSO4(-)·SO4(2-), was synthesized from adenine and sulfuric acid. The asymmetric unit contains two diprotonated adeninium cations, two bis-ulfate anions and one sulfate anion. The crystal structure is stabilized by classical N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.
In the title compound, C(10)H(11)N(2) (+)·HSO(4) (-)·2H(2)O, the asymmetric unit contains two protonated 4-amino-quinoline cations and two hydrogen sulfate anions with four water mol-ecules. The crystal structure involves extensive N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
In the title compound, C(3)H(8)N(6) (2+)·SO(4) (2-), the melaminium cations and sulfate anions are inter-connected by N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a layer in the (101) plane. The layers are connected through multiple hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions (centroid-centroid distance of about 3.4 Å).
Hydrogen atoms from water and food are incorporated into biomass during cellular metabolism and biosynthesis, fractionating the isotopes of hydrogen-protium and deuterium-that are recorded in biomolecules. While these fractionations are often relatively constant in plants, large variations in the magnitude of fractionation are observed for many heterotrophic microbes utilizing different central...
In this research iron manganese oxide nanocomposites were prepared by co-precipitation, sol-gel and mechanochemical methods by using iron (III) nitrate, iron (II) sulfate and manganese (II) nitrate as starting materials. These nanocomposites were prepared in the presence of various catalyst beds. The polyvinyl pyrrolidon (PVP) was used as a capping agent to control the agglomeration of the nano...

Mineralization rates of C-labeled substrates were determined in the presence and absence of Na(2)MoO(4), an inhibitor of sulfate reduction, in the profundal sediments of a shallow eutrophic lake. Sulfate reduction was inhibited by Na(2)MoO(4) at all concentrations tested (0.2 to 200 mM), whereas methane production was inhibited at Na(2)MoO(4) concentrations greater than 20 mM. Initial mineraliz...
