In this paper we study implications of folds in both parameters of Lovász’ Hom(−,−) complexes. There is an important connection between the topological properties of these complexes and lower bounds for chromatic numbers. We give a very short and conceptual proof of the fact that if G− v is a fold of G, then bdHom(G,H) collapses onto bdHom(G − v,H), whereas Hom(H,G) collapses onto Hom(H,G− v). ...

Cancer-testis (CT) genes are expressed in a variety of human cancers, but not in normal tissues except for testis, and represent promising targets for immunotherapy and gene therapy. We investigated the expression of 10 CT genes (MAGE-1, MAGE-3, MAGE-4, GAGE, NY-ESO-1, SSX-1, HOM-MEL-40/SSX-2, SSX-4, HOM-TES14/SCP-1, and HOM-TES-85) in 21 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) biopsy specimens. The mos...

In this paper, a new construction of vertex algebras from more general vertex operators is given and a notion of quasi module for vertex algebras is introduced and studied. More specifically, a notion of quasi local subset(space) of Hom (W,W ((x))) for any vector space W is introduced and studied, generalizing the notion of usual locality in the most possible way, and it is proved that on any m...

A graph G is said to be hom-idempotent if there is a homomorphism from G2 to G, and weakly hom-idempotent if for some n ≥ 1 there is a homomorphism from Gn+1 to Gn. Larose et al. (1998) proved that Kneser graphs KG(n, k) are not weakly hom-idempotent for n ≥ 2k + 1, k ≥ 2. For s ≥ 2, we characterize all the shifts (i.e., automorphisms of the graph that map every vertex to one of its neighbors) ...

Word retrieval is core to language production and relies on complementary processes: the rapid activation of lexical and conceptual representations and word selection, which chooses the correct word among semantically related competitors. Lexical and conceptual activation is measured by semantic priming. In contrast, word selection is indexed by semantic interference and is hampered in semantic...

Cornell University, in collaboration with Jefferson Laboratory, has proposed the construction of a prototype energyrecovery linac (ERL) to study the energy recovery concept with high current, low emittance beams [1]. The beam with a current of up to 100 mA will excite significant higher-order-mode (HOM) power in the superconducting (s.c.) RF cavities with frequencies up to 100 GHz. Strong dampi...

We define a new method for global optimization, the Homotopy Optimization Method (HOM). This method differs from previous homotopy and continuation methods in that its aim is to find a minimizer for each of a set of values of the homotopy parameter, rather than to follow a path of minimizers. We define a second method, called HOPE, by allowing HOM to follow an ensemble of points obtained by per...

H om oconjugation energies in vacuo have been calculated for pyridine N -oxide (PyO) and its 4-methyl(4 PicO) and 4-nitro(4-N O :PyO) de rivatives with the use o f the C N D O /2 m ethod. C om parison with the experim ental hom oconjuga tion constants in some aprotic solvents reveals the opposite order o f the stability o f hom ocom plexes than could be expected based on the calculated hom oc...
