Background: Recently, iron oxide nanoparticles have attracted attention in various diagnosis and treatment fields. The aim of the present study was to investigate the cytotoxicity of various concentrations and incubation times of dextran-coated iron oxide nanoparticles (DIONPs) on HeLa and MCF-7 cancerous cell lines. Methods: This in-vitro study was conducted at Pharmaceutical Sciences Researc...
We used the fluorescence ubiquitination-based cell cycle indicator (FUCCI) to monitor cell cycle arrest after treatment of FUCCI-expressing HeLa cells (FUCCI-HeLa) with a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal mixture LQ, previously shown to have anti-tumor and anti-metastatic activity in mouse models. Paclitaxel was used as the positive control. In 2D monolayer culture, the untreated contro...
Biological information is obtained from the interaction between the series detection electrode and the organism or the physical field of biological cultures in the non-mass responsive piezoelectric biosensor. Therefore, electric parameter of the electrode will affect the biosensor signal. The electric field distribution of the microelectrode used in this study was simulated using the COMSOL Mul...

Two new compounds, isostreptazolin (1) and sannaphenol (2), were isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces sannanensis and their structures elucidated on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR as well as MS, IR and UV spectroscopic data analysis. The cytotoxic activity of 1 and 2 were evaluated. Both compounds were inactive against H460 and HeLa cell lines at 100 mM.
The human CD34 hematopoietic stem cell antigen is a highly glycosylated type 1 membrane protein of unknown function. CD34 is expressed on 1% to 4% of bone marrow cells, including pluripotent stem cells and committed progenitors of each hematopoietic lineage. CD34 has also been shown to be expressed on the small vessel endothelium of a variety of tissues and on a subset of bone marrow stromal ce...
Exposure of HeLa cells to different concentrations of the antineoplastic drug paclitaxel resulted in a loss of cell viability that was dependent on the concentration and time of exposure to the drug. This phenomenon was associated with the appearance of nuclear morphology typical of apoptosis and DNA breakage into a "ladder" pattern of discrete fragments of nucleosomal size. The induction of ce...
Heat dissipation by magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) under an alternating magnetic field can be used to selectively treat cancer tissues. Antibodies conjugated to MNPs can enhance the therapeutic effects of hyperthermia by altering antibody-antigen interactions. Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles (primary diameter, 20-30 nm) coated with polyethylenimine (PEI) were prepared and conjugated with CH11, an anti-Fas m...
We developed and characterized replicative small interfering RNA (siRNA) vectors for efficient, specific, and long-term gene silencing in human cells. We created stable XPA(KD) and XPC(KD) (knockdown) syngeneic cell lines to mimic human cancer-prone syndromes. We also silenced (HSA)KIN17. Several clones displaying undetectable protein levels of XPA, XPC, or (HSA)kin17 were grown for more than 3...
