This paper presents a practical and effective novel approach to curve fit electromechanical EM overcurrent OC relay characteristics. Based on singular value decomposition SVD , the curves are fitted with equation in state space under modal coordinates. The relationships between transfer function and Markov parameters are adopted in this research to represent the characteristic curves of EM OC r...

Basketball coaches at all levels use shot charts to study shot locations and outcomes for their own teams as well as upcoming opponents. Shot charts are simple plots of the location and result of each shot taken during a game. Although shot chart data are rapidly increasing in richness and availability, most coaches still use them purely as descriptive summaries. However, a team’s ability to de...

Stepwise regression is a commonly used tool if the order of the linear model to be tted is not known exactly. In this note strategies are proposed for an optimal choice of both the design and the decision rule which selects the adequate model.

In this work we consider symplectic Runge Kutta Nyström (SRKN) methods with three stages. We construct a fourth order SRKN with constant coefficients and a trigonometrically fitted SRKN method. We apply the new methods on the two-dimentional harmonic oscillator, the Stiefel-Bettis problem and on the computation of the eigenvalues of the Schrödinger equation.

In this paper, a new derivation of a uniformly-convergent, second-order method for singularly-perturbed, linear ordinary differential equations based on the freezing of the coefficients of the differential equation, and integration of the resulting equations subject to continuity and smoothness conditions at the nodes, is presented. The derivation presented here is compared with others based on...

Starting from discrete event simulations based on sampled data we simulate the interplay between product density and flux. Data-fitting helps to determine the right parameters for clearing functions to close first and second order conservation laws. For the first order case well-known relations from M/M/1-queuing theory can be reproduced and numerically extended to transient behavior. To includ...
