An Aluminum Nitride (AlN) MEMS resonator technology has been developed, enabling massively parallel filter and oscillator arrays on a single chip. Low loss filter banks and resonator arrays covering the 10MHz10GHz frequency range have been demonstrated, as has monolithic integration with inductors and CMOS circuitry. The high level of integration enables miniature multi-band, spectrally-aware a...

We propose a frame-based multiple-description video coder. The analysis filter bank is the extension of an orthogonal filter bank which computes the spatial polyphase components of the original video frames. The output of the filter bank is a set of video sequences which can be compressed with a standard coder. The filter bank design is carried out by taking into account two important requireme...

In this paper, we propose a new method to solve the problem of impulsive noise reduction in images. Non-linear filter like the median filter (MF) is useful for reducing random noise and periodical patterns, but direct median filtering have undesirable side effects such as smoothening of noise free regions, which results in loss of image detail and distortion of signal. Impulse noise is suppress...

In this paper, a second-order Chebyshev active bandpass filter (BPF) with three finite transmission zeros is presented. The filter utilizes a tapped-inductor feedback technique to compensate resistive losses of on-chip inductors, and a shunt-feedback inductor between input and output ports to achieve the transmission zeros. Moreover, one transmission zero is in the lower stopband, and two trans...

This paper shows an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) to design a novel compact ultra wideband (UWB) filter. The filter consists of an only one-cell composite right and left handed-transmission line (CRLH-TL) resonator, stepped impedance (SI), and two spurlines. The one-cell CRLH-TL resonator has a compact size and forms a wide passband. An SI and two spurlines are employed to reject b...

‏‎translation as a comunicative process is always said to be associated with various aspects of meaning loss or gain. subtitling as a mode of translating, due to special discoursal and textual conditions imposed upon it, is believed to be an obvious case of this loss or gain. presenting the spoken sound track of a film in writing and synchronizing the perception of this text by the viewers with...

A broadly tunable terahertz Solc-type birefringence filter is demonstrated. The first central passband frequency of the filter can be continuously tuned from 0.176 to 0.793 THz using magnetically controlled birefringence in nematic liquid crystals. The insertion loss of the present device is about 5 dB.

We propose the practical solution for overcoming the tedious job of detail calculation and corresponding rigorous analysis of several system parameter values associated with the design, testing and troubleshooting of Microwave Microstrip Chebyshev Lowpass Filter (LPF) by Insertion Loss Method. The entire above spoken Microwave Lowpass filter system modeling and performance analysis are implemen...

We present a modification to the adaptive Goldstein radar interferogram filter which improves the quality of interferometry products. The proposed approach makes the Goldstein filter parameter alpha dependent on coherence, such that incoherent areas are filtered more than coherent areas. This modification minimizes loss of signal while still reducing the level of noise.

Significant loss in transmissivity of the fiber used for the 18 years operations in JT-60U has been discovered: thereby making optimization of the filter configuration in the polychromator in Thomson scattering system for the high performance plasmas in JT-60SA is an essential task. The loss in the optical components induced by radiation from neutrons and γ-rays in particular needs to be examin...
