The accuracy of dose calculations at extended SSD is of significant importance in the dosimetric planning of total body irradiation (TBI). In a first step toward the implementation of electronic, multi-leaf collimator compensation for dose inhomogeneities and surface contour in TBI, we have evaluated the ability of the Eclipse AAA to accurately predict dose distributions in water at extended SS...
This paper describes the user interface facilities of the ECLIPSE integrated project support environment. This interface is based on a consistent metaphor called the'control panel'metaphor and includes standard help and message-handling systems. The paper describes these as well as some of the interface standards which have been developed. The interface has been implemented on top of the'applic...
We report detection of strong infrared thermal emission from the nearby (d = 19 pc) transiting extrasolar planet HD189733b, by measuring the flux decrement during its prominent secondary eclipse. A 6-hour photometric sequence using Spitzer’s infrared spectrograph in peak-up imaging mode at 16 μm shows the secondary eclipse depth to be 0.551±0.030%, with accuracy limited by NRC Postdoctoral Rese...
We present Kopitiam, an Eclipse plugin for certifying full functional correctness of Java programs using higher-order separation logic. Kopitiam extends the Eclipse Java IDE with an interactive environment for program verification, powered by the general-purpose proof assistant Coq. Moreover, Kopitiam includes a development environment for Coq theories, where users can define program models, an...
We are developing Kopitiam, a tool to interactively prove full functional correctness of Java programs using separation logic by interacting with the interactive theorem prover Coq. Kopitiam is an Eclipse plugin, enabling seamless integration into the workflow of a developer. Kopitiam enables a user to develop proofs side-by-side with Java programs in Eclipse.
This study reports some preliminary analyses of multichannel lidar measurements taken in Rome Tor Vergata (Italy) during the 20th March 2015 partial solar eclipse. The objective is assessing the capability of the instrument to document the effect of the eclipse in the lower troposphere, with a particular emphasis on the information content at relatively small temporal and spatial scales.
The careful description of the solar eclipse of A.D. 1567 by Clavius is used to derive limits to the Earth’s rotational clock error (∆T) of between 145 and 165 sec at this date. This result provides an important link between the ∆T curve as deduced from ancient and medieval eclipse observations and that obtained from telescopic data.
Local or wide-area connected workstation cluster-based computation systems are inherently failure-prone, particularly for long running computations. In this work we introduce a variety of features for failure resilience in the EcliPSe system for replicative applications. Key characteristics of fault-tolerant EcliPSe are ease of use, low statesaving costs, system scalability and good performance.
We present Warm Spitzer/IRAC secondary eclipse time series photometry of three short-period transiting exoplanets, HAT-P-3b, HAT-P-4b and HAT-P-12b, in both the available 3.6 and 4.5μm bands. HAT-P-3b and HAT-P-4b are Jupiter-mass, objects orbiting an early K and an early G dwarf stars, respectively. For HAT-P-3b we find eclipse depths of 0.112% −0.030% (3.6μm) and 0.094% +0.016% −0.009% (4.5μm...
