The behaviour of perturbations around trajectories of variable structure systems is studied and a sensitivity formula is derived. This formula is used to adapt classical shooting algorithms for computing periodic solutions to piecewise smooth systems. The innu-ence of switching boundaries on the stability of periodic solutions is studied within a control theory approach.

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used to measure the relative efficiency of the fourteen police precincts in Taipei city, Taiwan. Our results indicate how DEA may be used to measure these police precincts from commonly available police statistical data for the years 1994, 1995, and 1996. To sharpen our efficiency estimates, we use window analysis, slack variable analysis, and output-oriented ...

1 Intro In my 1988 SIGPLAN paper “Control-Flow Analysis in Scheme,” I promised to cover several items in more detail in a “forthcoming tech report.” The tech report has yet to happen. Most of the promised items have been covered in other papers (“The Semantics of Scheme Control-Flow Analysis” and “Data-Flow Analysis and Type Recovery in Scheme”). Useless-variable elimination, however, is still ...

While passwords, by definition, are meant to be secret, recent trends have witnessed an increasing number of people sharing their email passwords with friends, colleagues, and significant others. However, leading websites like Google advise their users not to share their passwords with anyone, to avoid security and privacy breaches. To understand users’ general password sharing behavior and pra...

Abstract The paper deals with the description and simulation verification of one of possible methods to control of multivariable control loops. In this case, the so called main controllers, binding members and correction members are used. The proposed method of control combines classical way to ensure of autonomy of control loop via binding members and the use of the method of single-variable b...

A new digital control method for a time varying sampled data system called a variable period deadbeat control is proposed to control high order nonholonomic chained systems with drift terms. This control law has a potential to avoid an excessive overshoot to prevent the trajectories close to the singular manifold of the transformation needed to obtain the chained forms. The control will be appl...

evolving models have found applications in many real world systems. in this paper, potentials of the evolving linear models (elms) in tracking control design for nonlinear variable structure systems are introduced. at first, an elm is introduced as a dynamic single input, single output (siso) linear model whose parameters as well as dynamic orders of input and output signals can change through ...

We present the algorithms used in MCVETO (Machine-Code VErification TOol), a tool to check whether a stripped machinecode program satisfies a safety property. The verification problem that MCVETO addresses is challenging because it cannot assume that it has access to (i) certain structures commonly relied on by source-code verification tools, such as control-flow graphs and call-graphs, and (ii...

In this paper a solution is given to the exact disturbance decoupling problem (DDP) for two-dimensional (2-D) systems, whereby the control action consists of a static local state feedback and a preview function of the signal to be rejected. Importantly, stability of the closed loop is taken into account.
