MOTIVATION Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based RNA fingerprinting is a powerful tool for the isolation of differentially expressed genes in studies of neoplasia, differentiation or development. Arbitrarily primed RNA fingerprinting is capable of targeting coding regions of genes, as opposed to differential display techniques, which target 3' non-coding cDNA. In order to be of general use and ...

The aim of this study was to identify the strengths and weaknesses of five DNA fingerprint methods for epidemiological typing of Streptococcus pneumoniae. We investigated the usefulness of (i) ribotyping, (ii) BOX fingerprinting with the BOX repetitive sequence of S. pneumoniae as a DNA probe, (iii) PCR fingerprinting with a primer homologous to the enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consens...

Linking network flows is an important problem in the detection of stepping stone attacks as well as in compromising anonymity systems. Traffic analysis is an effective tool for linking flows, which works by correlating their communication patterns, e.g., their packet timings. To improve scalability and performance of this process, recent proposals suggest to perform traffic analysis in an activ...

The proposed system exploits Wi-Fi and GeoMagnetic fingerprintings aided by Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Basically, the system only consists of the off-the-self Wi-Fi Access Points (APs) and low-cost IMU, while no extra equipment is required. Since the accuracy of Wi-Fi fingerprinting heavily depends on the number of APs deployments, spatial differentiability, and the fluctuation of Receive...

Radio fingerprinting is the process which identifies a cellular phone / other radio transmitter by the unique "fingerprint" which characterizes the signal transmission. Location fingerprinting determines receiver position with the help of database of RSS measurements from different sources .Location fingerprinting a positioning method that explores existing infrastructures e.g. cellular network...

This paper presents a new method for robust data hiding in curves and highlights potential applications including digital fingerprinting of map document for trace and track purposes. We parameterize a curve using the B-spline model and add a spread spectrum sequence to the coordinates of the B-spline control points. In order to achieve robust fingerprint detection, we propose an iterative align...

Location fingerprinting is a widely used technique for indoor localization. Traditional fingerprinting methods are generally in point-type, where the received signal strength indicators (RSSI) at discrete points are trained in the offline phase and used as reference in the online phase. This type of radio map requires many human efforts to calibrate and does not take into account the spatial re...

Protecting sensitive information from unauthorized disclosure is a major concern of every organization. As an organization’s employees need to access such information in order to carry out their daily work, data leakage detection is both an essential and challenging task. Whether caused by malicious intent or an inadvertent mistake, data loss can result in significant damage to the organization...

We extend the concept of two-level fingerprinting codes, introduced by Anthapadmanabhan and Barg (2009) in context of traceability (TA) codes [1], to other types of fingerprinting codes, namely identifiable parent property (IPP) codes, secure-frameproof (SFP) codes, and frameproof (FP) codes. We define and propose the first explicit non-trivial construction for two-level IPP, SFP and FP codes.

An audio fingerprint is a compact digest derived from perceptually relevant aspects of a recording. Fingerprinting technologies allow the monitoring of audio content without the need of meta-data or watermark embedding. However, additional uses exist for audio fingerprinting and some are reviewed in this article.
