This is an overview of the current literature on malunion after midshaft clavicle fracture. Anatomy, trauma mechanism, classification, incidence, symptoms, prevention, and treatment options are all discussed. The conclusion is that clavicle malunion is a distinct clinical entity that can be treated successfully.
Twoweeks after dual-chamber pacemaker implantation, a 51-year-oldman presented typical signs of pacemaker pocket infection. Device and leadswere explanted. As the local pain persisted and even extended to the left clavicle, amagnetic resonancewas performed and acute osteomyelitis of the left clavicle was diagnosed. Nine months later, a nearly complete resolution of the osteomyelitic focus was ob...
Recent studies have shown subjectively worse outcomes associated with 15 to 20 mm of clavicle shortening. As a result, more than 15 mm of shortening has become a relative indication for operative management. Various methods to quantify shortening have been described in the literature. All measurement techniques described assume clavicular symmetry to assess clavicular shortening. The goal of th...
BACKGROUND Clavicular prominence is common in patients with symptomatic degenerative sternoclavicular arthritis. It is unclear if this is caused by enlargement or subluxation of the clavicle. The aim of this report is to describe a reproducible measurement technique to evaluate the relationship of the medial clavicular head to the manubrium. METHODS One hundred normal sternoclavicular joints,...
clavicular bone tumors occur in less than 0.5 percent of bone tumors. primary chondrosarcoma is very rare even among clavicle tumors. the main symptom is a touchable mass in 69 % of patients. dedicated centers using fna and cytology can reach a correct diagnosis in 94% of cases. treatment planning is done using simple x-ray, ct-scan, shoulder mri, chest ct-scan, and whole body technetium scan. ...
Current classifications of midshaft clavicle fractures are based on radiography. The aim the study was to evaluate fracture pattern using 3-dimensional computed tomography (3D CT). A retrospective analysis performed CT scans 65 acute fractures. Using quantitative 3D reconstruction techniques, virtually reduced. Based these reconstructions, a group-based heat map and small fragment map, location...
osteoma is a benign bone-forming tumor that usually arises in the craniofacial bones and rarely in the long bones. clavicular involvement is extremely rare. we report a 51-year-old woman with osteoma of the left clavicle. radiograph of the left shoulder showed a well-defined lobulated blastic mass in the proximal and mid-portion of the left clavicle. bone scintigraphy was performed 4 hours afte...
Three cases of erosion and extrusion of a pacemaker catheter with infection are reported. Treatment consisted of removing the infected catheter without delay and administering systemic antibiotics. Local antibiotics did not prevent septicemia and resultant death in one patient. Modiication of our original technique by employing the cephalic vein below the clavicle or implanting the catheter beh...
Tuberculosis of clavicle is one of the rarely reported pathology of skeletal tuberculosis in the literature. It is difficult to diagnose because other conditions of clavicle also presents with same confusing picture, which can lead to delay in proper diagnosis and treatment. Our case is a young adolescent female presenting with complaints of mild pain and swelling in mid clavicular region for t...
We describe a case of a male patient who presented with a chronic ulcer below the left clavicle. Six years before the present admission a permanent pacemaker, including leads, was explanted related to endocarditis. The initial working hypothesis suspected an infected sebaceous gland as the cause of ulceration. After two periods of unsuccessful surgical treatment of the gland, further examinatio...
