A long-range physical map of the centromeric region of human chromosome 7 has been constructed in order to define the region containing sequences with potential involvement in centromere function. The map is centered around alpha satellite DNA, a family of tandemly repeated DNA forming arrays of hundreds to thousands of kilobasepairs at the primary constriction of every human chromosome. Two di...

A family is described in which the proband has a rearranged X chromosome involving monosomy Xp and trisomy Xq, while the mother has a paracentric inversion of chromosome 7. It is suggested that the phenomenon of interchromosomal effect may link these observations. A brief review of the published and computer catalogued data on paracentric inversion in man is included.

Pea (Pisum sativum L.) satellited chromosome reconstructions were analyzed by cytologic markers to identify segregation distortion events. The presence of modified chromosomes was evaluated on the basis of additional rDNA genes, an extra and a longer satellite, all derived from chromosome 5 and chromosome 7 from P. fulvum Sibth. & Sm. The segregation of modified satellited chromosome 5 was moni...

Chromosome 7 abnormalities are associated with poor prognosis in myeloid leukaemia. The pathogenetic mechanisms that arise from chromosome 7 rearrangements and lead to malignancy are still poorly understood. The use of leukaemiaderived cell lines might be a useful tool to shed some light on these mechanisms. The cytogenetic characterisation of these cell lines is therefore important for the und...

The objective of this project was to integrate the currently available linkage maps for bovine chromosome 7 (BTA7) by combining data sets from eight research groups. A total of 54 unique markers were typed in eight pedigrees. Multilocus linkage analysis with CRI-MAP produced a bovine chromosome 7 consensus framework map of 27 loci ordered with odds greater than 1000:1. Furthermore, we present a...

Treatment-related myelodysplasia (t-MDS) occurs less frequently with the nucleoside analogs than with DNA-damaging agents such as alkylators or topoisomerase II inhibitors. In a chemoimmunotherapy trial conducted between 1997 and 2003 in patients with stage IV indolent lymphoma, 202 patients were treated and 8 have developed MDS between 1 and 5 years after therapy, including 4 who received only...

conclusions this study revealed allele frequency of some strs on chromosome 12 and 16 for the first time in iran, and indicated differences between subjects with metabolic syndrome and subjects in the control group. results there was no significant deviation in allelic frequencies from hardy-weinberg equilibrium for all the studied markers except for d12s1632 and d12s329. the long alleles in d1...

A various types of repeat patterns are abundant in genomic sequence, and are associated with the biological phenomena at distinct levels. In particular, comparative analyses of whole-genome-sized sequence data reveal that the periodic sequences cause the segmental duplication that is a type of chromosomal structural arrangement [2]. In this study, we analyze the relationships between the large-...

Alterations of chromosome 7 are among the most frequent cytogenetic abnormalities found in human breast carcinoma. We examined genetic changes on chromosome 7 in 113 primary human breast tumors, using both microsatellite and restriction fragment length polymorphism/variable number of tandem repeats polymorphism markers mapping to the long arm (15 markers) and the short arm (8 markers). Allelic ...
