We numerically investigate mid-infrared supercontinuum (SC) generation in dispersion-engineered, air-clad, Ge(11.5)As(24)Se(64.5) chalcogenide-glass channel waveguides employing two different materials, Ge(11.5)As(24)Se(64.5) or MgF(2) glass for their lower cladding. We study the effect of waveguide parameters on the bandwidth of the SC at the output of 1-cm-long waveguide. Our results show tha...
A critical challenge in the fabrication of chalcogenide-glass infrared optical fibers is the need for first producing large volumes of highpurity glass – a formidable task, particularly in the case of multicomponent glasses. We describe here a procedure based on multimaterial coextrusion of a hybrid glass-polymer preform from which extended lengths of robust infrared fibers are readily drawn. O...
Chalcogenide glass is an optical material with excellent mid-infrared and far-infrared penetration properties. The silver-doped Ge28Sb12Se60 (GSS) chalcogenide films in this paper were deposited on a substrate by the co-evaporation technique. A continuous laser different power outputs was then used to scan at constant speed, photobleaching (PB) effects observed using microscopy. results show th...
Fast and robust infiltration of anodic TiO2 nanotube layers with a model chalcogenide As3S7 glass via spin-coating is reported for the first time. Effective sensitization leads to a significant visible light photocurrent response. This easy and cheap infiltration method can be extended for deposition of other absorbers into nanotubular layers.
A method for creating planar As2S3 waveguides with a minimum of processing steps is proposed, and the resulting waveguides have been characterized. When the processing parameters are optimized, the losses are low enough for practical use. The authors demonstrate this by creating serpentine waveguides with multiple bends and lengths in excess of 23cm. Keywords-component; chalcogenide glass; opti...
We present the first demonstration of continuous-wave four-wave mixing at 2μm in short chalcogenide microstructured fiber. Idlers over approximately 15nm on anti-Stokes side of the pump were measured for a coupled pump power of 94mW. OCIS codes: (060.5295) Photonic crystal fibers; (190.4380) Nonlinear optics, four-wave mixing
We demonstrate mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in an all-normal dispersion Chalcogenide PCF pumped by fiber laser. The -20dB bandwidth is 1.7~2.7μm dominated by selfphase modulation and optical wave breaking. Tapering is proposed to improve performance. OCIS codes: (320.6629) Supercontinuum generation (190.4370) Nonlinear optics, fibers (060.5295) Photonic crystal fibers
The layered ternary chalcogenide, palladium phosphorous sulphide (PdPS), and its composite with reduced graphene oxide are shown to be efficient hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts. The Tafel slope and the exchange current density values associated with hydrogen evolution reaction are determined to be 46 mV dec(-1) and 1.4 × 10(-4) A cm(-2) respectively.
Engineering of chalcogenide phase-change materials at the nanoscale is required to improve performances ultimate size memory devices and reduce their power consumption.
