Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis can present with a variety of clinical symptoms ranging from isolated headache to deep coma. Subarachnoid haemorrhage is a rare presentation. In the report, we describe a case of non-puerperal venous thrombosis of many dural sinuses manifesting on imaging solely as localized subarachnoid haemorrhage without underlying parenchymal involvement.

There has been substantial emphasis placed on categorizing recanalization and collateral formation in patients with acute arterial occlusion resulting in ischemic stroke. Such methods of semi-quantitatively classifying the severity of arterial occlusion for prognostic purposes and assessing the response to treatment have become an integral part of clinical studies. However, no such method exist...

CLINICAL FEATURES The presentation of CVT can be acute, subacute or chronic. The presenting symptoms are grouped into four major syndromes (Bousser et al. 1997): • isolated intracranial hypertension – headache, visual obscurations, vomiting, papilloedema ± sixth nerve palsy (Biousse et al. 1999); • focal syndrome – focal or generalized seizure and/or a focal defi cit such as monoor hemi-paresis...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE MR venography is often used to examine the intracranial venous system, particularly in the evaluation of dural sinus thrombosis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of MR venography in the depiction of the normal intracranial venous anatomy and its variants, to assess its potential pitfalls in the diagnosis of dural venous sinus thrombosis, and to compare th...

A 65-year-old woman with poorly controlled diabetes presented bilateral miosis, bilateral abducens nerve palsy, and left hemiparesis. On MRI, cavernous sinus thrombosis, subdural empyema and hemorrhagic infarction in the frontotemporal lobe were detected. Cerebral angiogram revealed filling defect in the cavernous sinus with venous congestion but no involvement of internal carotid artery. Postm...

A 43-year-old woman, presented with headache, reduced visual acuity, for 5 days and bilateral papilledema. Non-enhanced cerebral computed tomography (CT) was normal. The venous angiography-CT revealed the empty delta sign within superior sagittal, right transverse and sigmoid sinuses, characterizing sinus thrombosis (Figure). The empty delta sign is a central intraluminal filling defect, repres...
