The traditional methodology includes a carbon-chain shortening strategy to produce bio-jet fuel from lipids via a two-stage process with hydrogen. Here, we propose a new solution using a carbon-chain filling strategy to convert C10 terpene and lipids to jet fuel ranged hydrocarbons with aromatic hydrocarbon ingredients in the absence of hydrogen.

We derive the efficiency loss from using grouped data to estimate coefficients of variables that vary across groups but not individuals within a group (e.g., state unemployment rates) when micro data are unavailable on the dependent variable. We present an empirical example of our theoretical results, and show that the efficiency loss in this application is small. JEL Classification Number C10.

A highly stereoselective total synthesis of the alkaloid natural product welwitindolinone A isonitrile has been completed. The synthesis utilizes a chloronium ion mediated semi-pinacol rearrangement to simultaneously install the C10 quaternary center and neopentyl chlorine and a novel anionic cyclization to construct the spiro-oxindole with complete stereocontrol.

A highly functionalized intermediate in the synthesis of Taxol has been synthesized, which features the tricyclic core and the required oxygen substituents at C1, C2, C7, C10, and C13. The key step, a ring-closing dienyne metathesis (RCDEYM) reaction, has been thoroughly optimized to favor the tricyclic product over the undesired bicyclic product resulting from diene metathesis.

Leuconostoc citreum is a key microorganism in fermented foods of plant origin. Here we report the draft genome sequence for three strains of Leuconostoc citreum, LBAE C10, LBAE C11, and LBAE E16, which have been isolated from traditional French wheat sourdoughs.

Analysis of the products generated by mutants of aristolochene synthase from P. roqueforti (PR-AS) revealed the prominent structural role played by the aliphatic residue Leu 108 in maintaining the productive conformation of farnesyl diphosphate to ensure C1-C10 (σ-bond) ring-closure and hence (+)-aristolochene production.

The high spin complex Fe(I1) (N, N'-dicyclohexylthiourea)~(C10~)~ exists in two forms which only differ in the distortion from octahedral symmetry of the environment of the Fe ion. Thermodynamic data for the transformation from one form to the other as obtained from Mossbauer spectroscopy are presented and a method to derive kinetic parameters is described.
