We show that in the context of topological string theories N branes and M anti-branes give rise to Chern-Simons gauge theory with the gauge supergroup U (N |M). We also identify a deformation of the theory which corresponds to brane/anti-brane annihilation.

Development of new technologies brings people new possibilities such as smart spaces. Smart spaces can provide better user experience by allowing a user to connect new devices flexibly and to access all the information in the multi device system from any of the devices. The paper describes work-in-progress performed under a joint project of SPIIRAS and Nokia. The project is aimed at the analysi...

For a set Ω an unordered relation on Ω is a family R of subsets of Ω . If R is such a relation we let G(R) be the group of all permutations on Ω that preserve R, that is g belongs to G(R) if and only if x ∈R implies x ∈R. We are interested in permutation groups which can be represented as G= G(R) for a suitable unordered relation R on Ω . When this is the case, we say that G is defined by the r...

A major societal challenge to be tackled in megacities is sustainable urban transportation. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) are actually data-centric applications that need to store and query real-time as well as historical/static data from various data sources and have to provide timely responses to users’ transportation needs. In this paper we introduce a data management middleware ...

The European Nations foresee a growing population and a trending urbanization that pose significant environmental and social concerns. To manage these concerns municipal decision makers’ attempt to leverage the smart city concept with collaboration between external actors as a means to maintain the prepossessed living standard in the city. By developing a framework based on existing literature ...

The smart grid has been the hot topic all round the world, which involves many advanced technologies. It is very important for improving the managing efficiency, energy-saving, safe performances and so on. However, for it comes down to many subjects, its development has also been limited, applications of it in the grid has still existed some shortcomings. As a part of the new kind of communicat...

Exact supersymmetry can be maintained on non-anticommutative superspace with a twisted coproduct on the supergroup. We show that the usual exchange statistics for the superfields is not compatible with the twisted action of the superpoincaré group and find a statistics which is consistent with the twisted coproduct and imply interesting phenomena such as mixing of fermions and bosons under parti...

I define big data with respect to its size but pay particular attention to the fact that the data I am referring to is urban data, that is, data for cities that are invariably tagged to space and time. I argue that this sort of data are largely being streamed from sensors, and this represents a sea change in the kinds of data that we have about what happens where and when in cities. I describe ...

Smart Meters have been massively deployed recently, in order to provide energy awareness to people, helping them reduce their electricity footprint. We propose a Web-based infrastructure for integrating Smart Meters in future houses, providing high interoperability and scalability. We show that, by reusing the core principles of the modern Web architecture, we can build flexible applications on...

Collaboration is a widely accepted and successful learning construct. Benefits of collaboration include improved academic achievement, increased motivation, and improved social skills. In recent years, electronic educational games have made their way into the elementary school classroom. Many of these games are constructed around individual or competition-based learning environments. Pedagogica...
