In this work we propose an adaptive buffer-aided space-time coding scheme for cooperative wireless networks. A maximum likelihood receiver and adjustable code vectors are considered subject to a power constraint with an amplify-andforward cooperation strategy. Each multiple-antenna relay is equipped with a buffer and is capable of storing the received symbols before forwarding them to the desti...

Two digital control applications are presented: velocity control of a DC motor and adaptive system identification and control of an automotive alternator. A tuning method is proposed for DC motors. Experimental application for the DC motor illustrates the effectiveness and the simplicity of the proposed method for controller design. Using adaptive system identification, an automotive alternator...

Multiuser detection allows for the eecient use of bandwidth in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) channels through mitigation of near-far eeects and multiple-access noise limitations. The decorrelating detector is a linear multiuser detector that is asymptoti-cally optimal in terms of near far resistance. An adaptive decorrelator is constructed which adaptively augments an existing convention...

We address the problem of joint beamforming and multipath channel parameters estimation in Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) communication systems that employ Multiple-Access Interference (MAI) suppression techniques in the uplink (from mobile to base station). Most of the existing schemes rely on time multiplex a training sequence with the user data. In WCDMA, the channel paramete...

In this paper, we construct an adaptive ARQ/HARQ scheme using RS code for error correction and CRC code for error detection (when working in pure ARQ). Scheme performance parameter is defined and investigated to find optimal threshold values. Simulations are performed in LMS channel.

Proving deadlock freedom for distributed applications is complex. It becomes even harder if those applications dynamically adapt to face needs which were unexpected when the application was deployed or even started. We present a framework ensuring this key property by construction. Our framework includes a language called Adaptive Interaction-Oriented Choreography (AIOC) for programming adaptiv...

We propose a novel scheme of subband adaptive array (SBAA) for direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA). The scheme exploits the spreading code and pilot signal as the reference signal to estimate the propagation channel. Moreover, instead of combining the array outputs at each output tap using a synthesis filter and then despreading them, we despread directly the array outputs a...

In this paper we introduce a new low power address bus encoding technique, and the resulting code, named ALBORZ. The ALBORZ code is constructed based on transition signaling the limited-weight codes and, with enhancements to make it adaptive and irredundant, results in up to 89% reduction in the instruction bus switching activity at the expense of a small area overhead.

Many of the next generation of adaptive optics systems on large and extremely large telescopes require tomographic techniques in order to correct for atmospheric turbulence over a large field of view. Multi-object adaptive optics is one such technique. In this paper, different implementations of a tomographic reconstructor based on a machine learning architecture named "CARMEN" are presented. B...
