We report here the draft genome sequences of two clinically isolated Acinetobacter baumannii strains. These samples were obtained from patients at the University of Colorado Hospital in 2007 and 2013 and encode an estimated 20 and 13 resistance genes, respectively.

Acinetobacter baumannii is a major cause of nosocomial infection worldwide. We report the draft genome sequence of A. baumannii AC12, a multidrug-resistant nosocomial strain with additional resistance to carbapenems and polymyxin. The genome data will provide insights into the genetic basis of antimicrobial resistance and its adaptive mechanism.

Bacteremia is currently one of the infections with the highest mortality in hospitals [1]. Acinetobacter lwoffii and Acinetobacter baumannii are gram-negative bacteria and both represent opportunistic pathogens. In certain cases, the management can be challenging since these organisms can be highly resistant to antimicrobial agents. Clinical illnesses associated with Acinetobacter include pneum...

We report here the complete assembled genome sequence of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus CA16, which is capable of utilizing diesel and lignin as a sole carbon source. CA16 contains a 4,110,074-bp chromosome and a 5,920-bp plasmid. The assembled sequences will help elucidate potential metabolic pathways and mechanisms responsible for CA16's hydrocarbon degradation ability.

We report here the draft genome sequence of Acinetobacter baumannii strain M3AC14-8, sequence type 2 (ST2), carrying a chromosomally carried blaKPC-2 gene. The draft genome consists of a total length of 4.11 Mbp and a G+C content of 39.25%.

Acinetobacter baumannii is an aerobic, nonmotile Gram-negative bacterium that causes nosocomial infections worldwide. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Acinetobacter baumannii strain ZW85-1 and its two plasmids. One of the plasmids carries genes for NDM-1, which can hydrolyze a wide range of antibiotics.

In recent years, interest has been growing to preserve food including meat applying gamma radiation recommended by International Atomic Energy Agency to extend the shelf-life of meat retaining the organoleptic conditions as it is. In view of this point the present study aims to check the sensitivity of Acinetobacter spp. isolated from meat to gamma radiations. Seven species of Acinetobacter viz...

Acinetobacter spp. occur naturally in many different habitats, including food, soil, and surface waters. In clinical settings, Acinetobacter poses an increasing health problem, causing infections with limited to no antibiotic therapeutic options left. The presence of human generated multidrug resistant strains is well documented but the extent to how widely they are distributed within the Acine...

Background: The species belonging to the genus Acinetobacter are currently reported as opportunistic pathogens and shows multidrug resistance in hospitalized patients. The aim of this study was to isolate the clinical Acinetobacter species from NFGNB (Non Fermentative Gram Negative Bacilli) other than Pseudomonas and analyze their antibiogram (antibiotic susceptibility) patterns. This study hel...

Acinetobacter infections have increased and gained attention because of the organism's prolonged environmental survival and propensity to develop antimicrobial drug resistance. The effect of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter infection on clinical outcomes has not been reported. A retrospective, matched cohort investigation was performed at 2 Baltimore hospitals to examine outcomes of pati...
