Slow troponin T (TnT) plays an indispensable role in skeletal muscle function. Alternative RNA splicing in the NH(2)-terminal region produces high-molecular-weight (HMW) and low-molecular-weight (LMW) isoforms of slow TnT. Normal adult slow muscle fibers express mainly HMW slow TnT. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a group of inherited peripheral polyneuropathies caused by various neuronal ...

The effect of adsorption to elemental iron on the reductive transformation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (royal demolition explosive [RDX]) in aqueous solution was studied with scrap iron and high-purity iron. In batch experiments with the same total iron surface area and a mixing rate of 100 rpm, TNT and RDX were removed from the solution within 30 ...

Nitroaromatic explosives like 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and 2,4,6-trinitrophenyl-N-methyl-nitramine (tetryl) comprise an important group of toxic environmental pollutants, whose toxicity is mainly attributed to the flavoenzyme electrontransferase-catalyzed redox cycling of their free radicals (oxidative stress) and DT-diaphorase [NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase, NQO1, EC 1. 6.99.2]-catalyzed f...

Data from a combination of laboratory and fieldwork is presented to initiate testing of stable carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios to trace sources of TNT in contaminated soil and groundwater. Evaluation of these extraction methods resulted in 99.9 and 99.8% recovery of TNT with Soxhlet and solid-phase extraction (SPE), respectively. As a result of the high extraction efficiency, isotope fractio...

Titania nanotube (TNT) arrays are recognized as promising materials for localized drug delivery implants because of their excellent properties and facile preparation process. This review highlights the concept of localized drug delivery systems based on TNTs, considering their outstanding biocompatibility in a series of ex vivo and in vivo studies. Considering the safety of TNT implants in the ...

Troponin T (TnT) is a useful biomarker for studying drug-induced toxicity effects on cardiac cells. We describe how a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor was applied to monitor the release of TnT from active HL-1 cardiomyocytes in vitro when exposed to cardiotoxic substances. Two monoclonal human TnT antibodies were compared in the SPR immunosensor to analyse the TnT release. The detectio...

In this work we present a targeted gene expression strategy employing trinucleotide threading (TnT) amplification and massive parallel sequencing. We have previously shown that TnT combined with array readout accurately monitors expression levels. However, with this detection strategy spurious products go undetected. Accordingly, we adapted the TnT protocol to massive parallel sequencing to acq...

A Pt@TNT catalyst with Pt nanoparticles entrapped in titanate nanotubes (TNT) was prepared by hydrophobic modification of the exterior surface of the TNT and impregnation with hexachloroplatinic acid (H2PtCl6) aqueous solution. The catalyst's enhanced activity towards the hydrogenation of phenol (as high as ∼3200 gphenol h(-1) gPt(-1) of qTOF) can be ascribed to the confinement effect.

Limitations of creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) have led to alternative biochemical markers, including troponin T (TnT), to detect myocardial necrosis. Limited data are available regarding the predictive value of this new marker in patients with chest pain of uncertain etiology. Therefore, we prospectively compared CK-MB and TnT in a broad population with suspected acute coronary syndromes, including...

[We report of the procedures of developing a large representative corpus of 50,000 sentences taken from clinical notes. Previous reports of annotated corpus of clinical notes have been small and they do not represent the whole domain of clinical notes. The sentences included in this corpus have been selected from a very large raw corpus of ten thousand documents. These ten thousand documents ar...
