The Arctic Switch Fabric technology is a scalable network technology based on the Arctic router chip. Switch Fabrics are fat tree networks that are capable of providing high performance even under a heavy load of large (96 byte) packets. They have a number of diagnostic features that make them well suited for experimental computer systems. Switch Fabrics will be used in the StarT-Jr, StarT-Voya...

The objective of this study was to determine if mothers' retrospective reports about events in their pregnancies with twins are reliable and stable. Six hundred and twenty-four mothers completed psychiatric interviews about their twins. These interviews also contained questions about the mothers' pregnancies, the perinatal period, and the child's early development. The mothers reported first on...

This article adds to the debate on internationalization competences of SMEs. After an examination of the most influential papers, we systematically discuss the role of individual and organizational competence gaps before and during the internationalization phase. In more detail, we raise the question what kinds of competences gaps hinder SMEs to go international and what competence gaps arise d...

We study superharmonic functions related to elliptic equations with structural conditions involving a variable growth exponent. We establish pointwise estimates for such functions in terms of a Wolff type potential. We apply these estimates to prove a variable exponent version of the Hedberg–Wolff theorem on the dual of Sobolev spaces with zero boundary values.

In this paper, we present initial experiments in the recognition of deceptive language. We introduce three data sets of true and lying texts collected for this purpose, and we show that automatic classification is a viable technique to distinguish between truth and falsehood as expressed in language. We also introduce a method for class-based feature analysis, which sheds some light on the feat...

This paper elaborates on the bulk/boundary relation between negative cosmological constant 3D gravity and Liouville field theory (LFT). We develop an interpretation of LFT non-normalizable states in terms of particles moving in the bulk. This interpretation is suggested by the fact that “heavy” vertex operators of LFT create conical singularities and thus should correspond to point particles mo...

Theoretical considerations and earlier experimental findings indicate that traveling over slanted terrain can lead to an enrichment of the perceived spatial cues relevant for navigation. We investigated the proposed facilitation of a uniformly slanted environment on navigation and orientation performance with a virtual environment presented on a large 180 degrees screen, using as material a vir...

Jacobi’s four squares theorem asserts that the number of representations of a positive integer n as a sum of four squares is 8 times the sum of the positive divisors of n, which are not multiples of 4. A formula expressing an infinite product as an infinite sum is called a product-to-sum identity. The product-to-sum identities in a single complex variable q from which Jacobi’s four squares form...
