We report here the genome sequences of six newly isolated bacteriophages infecting Arthrobacter sp. ATCC 21022. All six have myoviral morphologies and have double-stranded DNA genomes with circularly permuted ends. The six phages are closely related with average nucleotide identities of 73.4 to 93.0% across genomes lengths of 49,797 to 51,347 bp.

Arthrobacter crystallopoietes strain BAB-32, a Gram-positive obligate aerobic actinobacterium having potential application in bioremediation and bioreduction of a few metals, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The draft genome (4.3 Mb) of the strain revealed a few vital gene clusters involved in the metabolism of aromatic compounds, zinc, and sulfur.

We report here the 4.6-Mb genome sequence of a nylon oligomer-degrading bacterium, Arthrobacter sp. strain KI72. The draft genome sequence of strain KI72 consists of 4,568,574 bp, with a G+C content of 63.47%, 4,372 coding sequences (CDSs), 54 tRNAs, and six rRNAs.

We report the 4.39-Mb draft genome sequence of the 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol-degrading bacterium Arthrobacter sp. strain SJCon, isolated from a pesticide-contaminated site. The draft genome sequence of strain SJCon will be helpful in studying the genetic pathways involved in the degradation of several aromatic compounds.

We report the 4.04-Mb draft genome sequence of Arthrobacter sp. YC-RL1, an aromatic compound-degrading bacterium. YC-RL1 could degrade a wide range of aromatic compounds, including naphthaline, 1,2,3,4-tetrachlorobenzene, fluorene, 4-nitrophenol, bisphenol A, biphenyl, and p-xylene. The genome sequence of YC-RL1 will promote the investigation of the biodegradation of aromatic compounds.

The gene coding for opine dehydrogenase from Arthrobacter sp. strain 1C was cloned onto plasmid pBluescript KS(-), and the nucleotide sequence of the 1,077-bp open reading frame consisting of 359 codons was identified as the odh gene. Transformed Escherichia coli cells overproduced NAD+-dependent opine dehydrogenase under control of the promoter of the lac gene on pBluescript KS(-).

We report here the 4.7-Mb draft genome of Arthrobacter sp. SPG23, a hydrocarbonoclastic Gram-positive bacterium belonging to the Actinobacteria, isolated from diesel-contaminated soil at the Ford Motor Company site in Genk, Belgium. Strain SPG23 is a potent plant growth promoter useful for diesel fuel remediation applications based on plant-bacterium associations.

Of 31 freshwater bacterial isolates screened using the Biolog MT2 assay to determine their metabolism of the microcystin LR, 10 were positive. Phylogenetic analysis (16S rRNA) identified them as Arthrobacter spp., Brevibacterium sp., and Rhodococcus sp. This is the first report of microcystin degraders that do not belong to the Proteobacteria.
