The adenovirus (AdV) icosahedral capsid encloses a nucleoprotein core formed by the dsDNA genome bound to numerous copies of virus-encoded, positively charged proteins. For an efficient delivery its genome, AdV must undergo cascade dismantling events from plasma membrane nuclear pore. Throughout this uncoating process, virion moves across potentially disruptive environments whose influence in p...
The study of viruses and their interactions with host cells and organisms has benefited greatly from the ability to engineer specific mutations into viral genomes, a technique known as reverse genetics. Genome manipulations of DNA viruses, either by transfecting cells with plasmids encoding the viral genome (1) or by heterologous recombination of plasmids bearing viral sequences with the virus ...
Viral integration into the human genome upon infection is an important risk factor for various human malignancies. We developed viral integration site detection tool called Virus-Clip, which makes use of information extracted from soft-clipped sequencing reads to identify exact positions of human and virus breakpoints of integration events. With initial read alignment to virus reference genome ...
A new, symptomless virus was identified in blueberry. The dsRNA genome of the virus, provisionally named Blueberry latent virus (BBLV), codes for two putative proteins, one without any similarities to virus proteins and an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. More than 35 isolates of the virus from different cultivars and geographic regions were partially or completely sequenced. BBLV, found in more t...
Graphical Abstract Errors are regularly made when SARS-CoV-2 replicates its RNA genome. The viral polymerase complex is error-prone with imperfect proofreading abilities. These errors or mutations often lead to deleterious neutral effects on the virus. However, sometimes these have a positive effect and create genetic variants of virus different features including increased transmissibility, pa...
marek’s disease (md) is a lymphoproliferative disease of chickens characterized by lymphocyticinfiltration of various organs. the present study was an attempt to use polymerase chain reaction (pcr) tooptimize a rapid and reliable assay for detection of mdv genome. detection of serotype 1 of mdv (mdv-1)was confirmed by presence of a 200 bp dna fragment as a pcr product. differentiation of mdv-1 ...
We report here the first genome sequence of infectious laryngotracheitis virus isolated in Peru from tracheal tissues of layer chickens. The genome showed 99.98% identity to the J2 strain genome sequence. Single nucleotide polymorphisms were detected in five gene-coding sequences related to vaccine development, virus attachment, and viral immune evasion.
Here we report the first complete genome sequence of a cauliflower mosaic virus from Brazil, obtained from the gut content of the predator earwig (Doru luteipes). This virus has a genome of 8,030 nucleotides (nt) and shares 97% genome-wide identity with an isolate from Argentina.
To locate the transmissible gastroenteritis coronavirus (TGEV) packaging signal, the incorporation of TGEV subgenomic mRNAs (sgmRNAs) into virions was first addressed. TGEV virions were purified by three different techniques, including an immunopurification using an M protein-specific monoclonal antibody. Detection of sgmRNAs in virions by specific reverse transcription-PCRs (RT-PCRs) was relat...
Here, we present the complete genome sequences of five human respiratory syncytial virus isolates collected from hospitalized infants suffering from acute respiratory disease. These are the first five complete genome sequences of human respiratory syncytial virus to originate from Brazil.
