Redox-neutral tetrafluoroethylation of aryl alkynes with 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane sulfonic acid leading to α-tetrafluoroethylated acetophenones is described in the Full Paper by Takuji Kawamoto and co-workers on page 9529 ff. The reaction proceeds via formation vinyl tetrafluoroethanesulfonates followed a radical tetrafluoroethylation.

In this work agar- and borax-based hydrogels with without the addition of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) at different concentrations were synthesized. Hydrogels modified by same amount acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) which exhibits antithrombotic properties. The effect modification ASA on properties was analyzed.

The synthesis of the marine natural product 1,6Z,9Z,12Z,15Z-octadecapentaen-3-one (1) has been achieved by two different routes starting from the ethyl esters of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), respectively. Using EPA ethyl ester as starting material the polyunsaturated vinyl ketone lipid 1 was obtained in 17% overall yield.
