In this study, thermal and heat transfer characteristics of nano based PCM during energy storage and release processes were investigated. This work also presented the preparation of nanofluid, which is solid-liquid composite material consisting of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) embedded into melting palmitic acid. Size of the TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by sol-gel method was measured by using tran...
This study examined the tribological properties of two lubricating oils, paraffin oil and biolubricant added with TiO2 nanoparticles used as additives. Biolubricant used in this experimental was derived from palm oil-based TMP (trimethylolpropane) ester. The TMP ester is produced from palm oil, which is biodegradable and has high lubricity properties such as a higher flash point temperature and...
BACKGROUND & AIM TiO2 nanoparticles have generally low toxicity in the in vitro systems although some toxicity is expected to originate in the TiO2-associated photo-generated radical production, which can however be modulated by the radical trapping ability of the serum proteins. To explore the role of serum proteins in the phototoxicity of the TiO2 nanoparticles we measure viability of the exp...
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is produced in Poland as a high production volume chemical (HPVC). It is used mainly as a pigment for paints and coatings, plastics, paper, and also as additives to food and pharmaceuticals. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles are increasingly applied in cosmetics, textiles and plastics as the ultraviolet light blocker. This contributes to a growing occupational exposure to T...
Titania-supported palladium, gold and bimetallic nanoparticles (second-generation nanoparticles) demonstrate promising photocatalytic properties. However, due to unusual reactivity, second-generation nanoparticles can be hazardous for living organisms. Considering the ever-growing number of new types of nanoparticles that can potentially contaminate the environment, a determination of their tox...
We found that twinned gold nanoparticles (T-AuNPs) are generated at a high probability by CO treatment of TiO2-supported Au(iii) at room temperature. Because of the formation of T-AuNPs, the Au/TiO2 prepared by the CO treatment showed higher catalytic activity for CO oxidation than Au/TiO2 prepared by conventional H2 treatment.
Hybrid photocatalysts were prepared by depositing a macrocyclic cobalt complex on TiO2 surfaces. Upon UV light irradiation, photoexcited electrons in TiO2 nanoparticles were transferred to the surface cobalt catalyst for CO2 reduction.
Article history: Received 17 July 2015 Revised 18 December 2015 Accepted in revised form 19 December 2015 Available online 21 December 2015 The main challenges of biological implants are suitable strength, adhesion, biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. This paper discusses fabrication, characterization and electrochemical investigation of anodized Ti6Al4V without and with a hydroxyapatite...
Shuttle-like crystalline TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrolysis of titanium tetrabutoxide in the presence of acids in NP-5 (Igepal CO-520)–cyclohexane reverse micelle at room temperature. Pure rutile nanoparticles were obtained at appropriate acid concentrations. The influences of various reaction conditions, such as concentration and type of acid, water content, H2O/Ti molar ratio, ...
This article contains the dataset referring to the article "Study of the effect of the dispersion of functionalized nanoparticles TiO2 with photocatalytic activity in LDPE" (Jahell et al., 2016) [1]. It includes the FT-IR data of the functionalized nanoparticles of TiO2 with Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane in different degrees of functionalization, thermogravimetric analysis, distribution and particl...
