With interest in the potential of optical fibres as the basis of next-generation thermoluminescence dosimeters (TLDs), the development of suitable forms of material and their fabrication has become a fast-growing endeavour. Present study focuses on three types of Ge-doped optical fibres with different structural arrangements and/or shapes, namely conventional cylindrical fibre, capillary fibre,...
CaSO4: Dy, P is known for its dosimetric characteristics for a very long time now. In this work we have carried out a comparative study on TL intensity of CaSO4: Dy, P, Ce phosphors using two different wet chemical synthesis routes. Nobody seems to have reported this kind of study on CaSO4: Dy, P, Ce 3+ phosphors and as a result it may be regarded as something new. Phosphors were characterized ...
Exposure of control (non-hardened) Arabidopsis leaves for 2 h at high irradiance at 5 degrees C resulted in a 55% decrease in photosystem II (PSII) photochemical efficiency as indicated by F(v)/F(m). In contrast, cold-acclimated leaves exposed to the same conditions showed only a 22% decrease in F(v)/F(m). Thermoluminescence was used to assess the possible role(s) of PSII recombination events i...
Many asbestiform minerals exhibit temperature-dependent thermoluminescence. Since thermoluminescence involves electronic transitions within crystalline materials, the effect of temperature on asbestos cytotoxicity was evaluated. Heat pretreatment of Canadian chrysotile asbestos reduces its cytotoxicity towards cultured human fibroblasts and bovine alveolar macrophages. When monitored 44 hr afte...
The thermoluminescence (TL) properties of the Eu 2+ doped Ba13-xAl22-2xSi10+2xO66 (x0.6) phosphorescent materials (hereafter labeled BASO:Eu) are analyzed on the basis of the thermally connected traps (TCT) model. Basically, in these materials, Eu 2+ cations are photo-ionized under UV excitation, and electrons are trapped at defects. The return to the ground state is thermo-stimulated, and the...
This manuscript presents an attempt to evaluate the intensity of fire through spatial patterning and thermoluminescence methodology. Previous studies of Layer II-6 Level 2 at the Acheulian site of Gesher Benot Ya'aqov suggested that hominins differentiated their activities across space, including multiple activities around a hearth reconstructed on the basis of the distribution of burned flint ...
Abstract This work addresses a contribution to specific objectives of wide research project aimed at making operator-independent and having an automatic system during the collection phase in authenticity test by Thermoluminescence. Here we dealt with critical aspects sampling regard temperature monitoring drilling. A homemade is built up carry out experiments allow assessing correlation between...
Radiation dosimetry is fundamental in Medical Physics, involving patients and phantom dosimetry. In both cases thennoluminescence dosimetry (TLD) is the most appropriate technique for measuring the absorbed dose. In this paper thennoluminescence phenomenon as well as the use of TLD in radiodiagnosis and radiotherapy for in vivo or in phantom measurements is discussed. Some results of measuremen...
The possibility of optical readout has been studied for the detectors based on MgB4O7:Dy,Na. It is shown that due to release electrons from traps instead holes under illumination by light, optically stimulated luminescence not observed, despite effective erasing thermally glow curves light. By analogy with MgB4O7:Tm, a model processes occurring during thermoluminescence presented.
