This paper considers Henkin’s proof of completeness of classical first-order logic and extends its scope to the realm of algebraizable logics in the sense of Blok and Pigozzi. Given a propositional logic L (for which we only need to assume that it has an algebraic semantics L and a suitable disjunction) we axiomatize two natural firstorder extensions L∀ and L∀ and prove that the former is compl...
The natural join and the inner union operations combine relations in a database. Tropashko and Spight realized that these two operations are the meet and join operations in a class of lattices, known by now as the relational lattices. They proposed then lattice theory as an algebraic approach, alternative to the relational algebra, to the theory of databases. Litak et al. proposed an axiomatiza...
Here the emphasis is on the main pillars of Tarskian structuralist approach to logic: relation algebras, cylindric algebras, polyadic algebras, and Boolean algebras with operators. We also tried to highlight the recent renaissance of these areas and their fusion with new trends related to logic, like the guarded fragment or dynamic logic. Tarskian algebraic logic is far too broad and too fruitf...
S OF PAPERS SUBMITTED FOR PRESENTATION TO THE SOCIETY The following papers have been submitted to the Secretary and the Associate Secretaries of the Society for presentation at meetings of the Society. They are numbered serially throughout this volume. Cross references to them in the reports of the meetings will give the number of this volume, the number of this issue, and the serial number of ...
For n a positive integer, Ln is the variety of `-groups satisfying the equation [x, y] = e. Many of the well known but striking features of the Ln varieties carry over to varieties satisfying the laws [x, y, z] = e and [x, y, y] = e, such as the structure of finitely generated subdirectly irreducible `-groups and the respective intersections with the representable variety. Some interesting exam...
this paper is the first of a two part series. in this paper, we first prove that the variety of dually quasi-de morgan stone semi-heyting algebras of level 1 satisfies the strongly blended $lor$-de morgan law introduced in cite{sa12}. then, using this result and the results of cite{sa12}, we prove our main result which gives an explicit description of simple algebras(=subdirectly irreducibles) ...
this paper is the second of a two part series. in this part, we prove, using the description of simples obtained in part i, that the variety $mathbf{rdqdstsh_1}$ of regular dually quasi-de morgan stone semi-heyting algebras of level 1 is the join of the variety generated by the twenty 3-element $mathbf{rdqdstsh_1}$-chains and the variety of dually quasi-de morgan boolean semi-heyting algebras--...
In this paper, we obtain the Rényi entropy rate for irreducible-aperiodic Markov chains with countable state space, using the theory of countable nonnegative matrices. We also obtain the bound for the rate of Rényi entropy of an irreducible Markov chain. Finally, we show that the bound for the Rényi entropy rate is the Shannon entropy rate.
