The representative toadstool Amanita muscaria plays an important role in maintaining forest ecosystems by forming mutualistic associations with a variety of trees. A is also known for the poisonous properties its hallucinogenic constituents, namely, ibotenic acid, muscimol, and muscarin. Serious cases poisoning humans may involve deliria, hallucinations, seizures, (rarely) death. typical sympto...

Ground squirrels are an increasingly important model for studying visual processing, retinal circuitry, and cone photoreceptor function. Here, we demonstrate that the photoreceptor mosaic can be longitudinally imaged noninvasively in the 13-lined ground squirrel (Ictidomys tridecemlineatus) using confocal and nonconfocal split-detection adaptive optics scanning ophthalmoscopy using 790 nm light...

Spermophilus xanthoprymnus (Bennett, 1835), the Asia Minor ground squirrel, is a group-living, diurnal, obligately hibernating marmotine squirrel. It inhabits the steppes and alpine meadows throughout central lowland and eastern highland Anatolia and adjacent Armenia and northwestern Iran. Its preferred elevation appears to range from about 800 to 2,900 m. The species displays sexual dimorphism...

A new squirrel-cage rotor structure induction motor (IM) that has a auxiliary permanent magnet (PM) rotor and improved cage-rotor structure is presented to enhance the inherent power factor of the IM, and a prototype motor is fabricated by modifying the rotor of a conventional three-phase four-pole squirrel-cage induction motor. The flux linkage, flux distribution, power factor, core loss and e...

A previously unidentified middle Miocene primate from the La Venta deposits of Colombia is intermediate between squirrel monkeys (Saimiri) and callitrichines (marmosets and tamarins) in the morphology of the lower molars, mandible, and talus. Laventiana annectens is closely related to Saimiri and to Cebus (capuchin monkeys) yet resembles the probable callitrichine morphotype, demonstrating that...

Primate sociophysiology is an emerging discipline concerned with understanding the proximate mechanisms that contribute to the generation and maintenance of species-typical social systems. Studies of squirrel monkeys illustrate that sociophysiological processes are more varied than is commonly assumed with respect to both the effective social dimensions that influence physiological function and...

This paper presents a physical model of a squirrel cage induction machine with rotor topology. The machine is modeled in Modelica, an object oriented multi physical modeling system. The presented machine model is used to investigate electrical rotor asymmetries in induction machines. For the case of a single broken rotor bar a simulation model is compared with measurement results.

the paper presents the methodology for obtaining the level of noise in three-phase induction motors with squirrel cage rotor. Investigations include a single-speed motor with 3000 r/min and a two-speed motor with 750 and 1500 r/min. The investigated motors (manufactured by a Romanian company) were placed in a semi-anechoic chamber in order to determine the noise-to-frequency characteristics (sp...
