感覚的消臭効果を測定する方法として,既往の臭気強度法注1)よりも客観性に優れていると考えられた認知臭気濃度法注2)が提案されている.本研究では,認知臭気濃度法により複数の消臭剤の消臭能力を比較確認後,臭気強度法との定量的な比較を行った.その結果,認知臭気濃度法では,芳香空気存在下でも,臭気強度0.5の差に相当する臭気指数差の違いが分かることが確認された.また,臭気強度法では消臭効果の差異を示すことができなかった2芳香間の違いについて,認知臭気濃度法では有意な差が得られることも確認した.この2芳香間での消臭効果の差異は,一般消費者を用いた評価結果でも検証できた.
