Genome wide association studies (GWAS) have identified numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are associated with a variety of common human diseases. Due to the weak marginal effect of most disease-associated SNPs, attention has recently turned to evaluating the combined effect of multiple disease-associated SNPs on the risk of disease. Several recent multigenic studies show poten...
Background: The role of paraoxonase 1 enzyme (PON1) and its single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in children with nephrotic syndrome (NS) has been reported previously different ethnic racial groups divergent results. human PON1 gene contains two coding region leading to isoforms. Objectives: aim the present study was find out association between (Q192R L55M) their relation serum activity as w...
Aim: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) defined by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain discomfort and changes in habits, is the most common functional gastrointestinal disorder. Studies proved that polymorphisms genes were one of key roles underlying IBS. This study aimed to investigate genotypes allele frequencies IBS-associated single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) from GNB3 (rs54443) SCN5A (rs801...
We describe 27 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a commercially important bivalve, the weathervane scallop ( Patinopecten caurinus ), identified using a targeted-gene approach. We further characterize 12 of these using 5′ -nuclease and allele-specific PCR assays. Polymorphisms were identified in both mitochondrial and nuclear genes. These are the first SNPs developed for delineating pop...
Background: The development of allergic rhinitis (AR) is caused by the interaction between genetic predisposition and environmental factors. In this study, the association between GATA3 single nucleotide polymorphisms and AR in an Iranian population was identified. Methods: This case-control study was performed on 86 patients with AR and 86 healthy subjects. This study aimed to e...
Abstract Background Infertility is a multifactorial health issue, with males accounting for half of the cases, part which appears to be idiopathic. Several genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have explored role single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in idiopathic male infertility (IMI). However, considering inconsistent evidence, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed assess between ...
Plant architecture traits are closely related to plant biomass, lodging, and photosynthetic efficiency, which in turn affect soybean yield. In this study, we investigated a Chinese mini core collection consisting of 224 germplasm accessions for four architecture-related (plant height (PH), number nodes on main stem (NN), branch (BN), diameter (DI)) under three environments conducted genome-wide...
We developed a real-time PCR assay to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with ciprofloxacin resistance in specimens submitted for nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT). All three single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) targets produced high sensitivity and specificity values. The presence of ≥2 SNPs was sufficient to predict ciprofloxacin resistance in an organism.
