Introduction: Pt nuggets found in the silicate glass of solubility experiments at low fO2 may be the quench products of Pt in solution in silicate liquid, not mechanical contaminants. Pt solubilities measured in the range of geologically interesting fO2 would then be several orders of magnitude higher than conventionally assumed. Such a finding may remove the perception of "excess" Pt in Earth'...

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different silicon supplements and postharvest treatments on growth and yield of gerbera in a greenhouse experiment. Silicon supplements were including potassium silicate at three concentrations (0, 140 and 200 mg L−1), sodium silicate at three concentrations (0, 50 and 100 mg L−1) and rice hull ash (RHA) at three concentrations (0, 50 and 1...

Yttrium silicate coating[5, 6] is a promising candidate for oxidation resistant coating for its low oxygen diffusion coefficient and similar thermal expansion coefficient with silicon carbide. Webster et. al.[7] had prepared yttrium silicate coating on C/SiC using Y2O3/SiO2 slips by slip casting and sintering. The selected sintering parameters were 3 h at 1600 °C in flowing argon. The coating c...

The physical properties of HfO2 and Hf-silicate layers grown by the atomic layer chemical vapor deposition are characterized as a function of the Hf concentration and the annealing temperature. The peaks of Fourier transform infrared spectra at 960, 900, and 820 cm−1 originate from Hf–O–Si chemical bonds, revealing that a Hf-silicate interfacial layer began to form at the HfO2/SiO2 interface af...

Due to the beneficial effects of silicon (Si) on ornamental plants, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different sources and concentrations of Si on some characteristics of Rose (Rosa hybrida cv. Beverly Watson). This research was conducted in 2015 in one of the greenhouses of Parks and Landscape Organization of Urmia and in Research Laboratories of Horticultural Science Dep...

The purpose of this research was to study the marginal adaptation of eight calcium silicate-based materials when used to seal large furcal perforations, compared with one resin-modified glass-ionomer cement by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Сonclusion:All tested calcium silicate-based materials showed good marginal adaptation and are suitable for large furcal perforation repair.

Abstract Olivine is a major rock-forming mineral in various magmatic and metamorphic rocks the upper mantle. In this paper, we present first high-precision analyses of olivine from 15 samples magnesian skarns silicate marbles (MSSM) collection Fersman Mineralogical Museum (Moscow, Russia). Mg# [Mg/(Mg+Fe2+)·100, mol%] studied varies 86 to nearly 100. The main distinctive features are anomalousl...

We describe observations of 9.7 μm silicate features in 97 AGNs, exhibiting a wide range of AGN types and of X-ray extinction toward the central nuclei. We find that the strength of the silicate feature correlates with the HI column density estimated from fitting the X-ray data, such that low HI columns correspond to silicate emission while high columns correspond to silicate absorption. The be...

We present the first Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph 11 observations of the disks around classical T Tauri stars: spectra in the 5.2-30 µm range of six stars. The spectra are dominated by emission features from amorphous silicate dust, and a continuous component from 5 to 8 µm that in most cases comprises an excess above the photosphere throughout our spectral range. There is considerable variati...
