The analysis of event shape variables enable studies of QCD and determinations of α s , but require predictions to next-to-leading order. The predictions of two next-to-leading order programs are compared for current jet thrust, current jet-broadening, C parameter and jet-mass in deep inelastic scattering.

A cuboid structure was constructed using a DNA origami design based on a square prism structure. The structure was characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and dynamic light scattering. The real-time opening event of the cuboid was directly observed by high-speed AFM.

Studies of hadronic final states of e + e − annihilations at LEP are reviewed. The topics included cover hadronic event shapes, measurements of αs, determinations of QCD colour factors and tests of the non-Abelian gauge structure of QCD, differences between quark and gluon jets, QCD with heavy quarks and selected results of two-photon scattering processes.

We report differential scattering experiments on the laser excitation of Na + M collision pairs with M = N(2), CO, C(2)H(2), and CO(2). The collision event is probed by the laser polarization revealing geometric and electronic properties of the collision pair. The experimental data are compared to the results of a Monte Carlo trajectory simulation using ab initio quantum chemical data.
