Genetic programming (GP) can automatically fuse given classifiers to produce a combined classifier whose Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) are better than [Scott et al., 1998b]’s “Maximum Realisable Receiver Operating Characteristics” (MRROC). I.e. better than their convex hull. This is demonstrated on artificial, medical and satellite image processing bench marks.

LR-WPANs have two types of networks: beacon–enabled and non-beacon-enabled networks. In beacon-enabled LR-WPANs, the high reliability of Beacon frame transmission is required because all transmissions is controlled by the in-formation in the Beacon frame. However, the process to handle the case for the beaconloss is not well-defined in the standard. In this paper, an enhanced protocol for the c...

In a paper by Biro et al. [2], a novel twist on guarding in art galleries, motivated by geographical greedy routing in sensor networks, is introduced. A beacon is a point that when activated induces a force of attraction, or repulsion that can move points within the environment. The effect of a beacon is similar to standard visibility with some additional properties. The effects of a beacon are...

Beacon placement strongly affects the quality of spatial localization, a critical service for context-aware applications in wireless sensor networks; yet this aspect of localization has received little attention. Fixed beacon placement approaches such as uniform and very dense placement are not always viable and will be inadequate in very noisy environments in which sensor networks may be expec...

The IEEE 802.11 standard requires that a beacon station has to stay in awake after generating a beacon frame to serve probe request. This requirement make a reason to consume valuable power of beacon station even though there are no frame exchanges between stations or there exists only one station in the ad hoc network. This paper proposes an ePSM(Enhanced Power Save Mode) to reduce effectively...

Wireless body area networks are widely used for applications such as health care system, where wireless sensors (nodes) monitor the parameter(s) of interest. Sensors play a critical role in many sensor network applications. Mac layer operates on non-beacon and beacon enabled mode. The IEEE 802. 15. 4 standard provide two modes of connections: beacon enabled mode and non-offer transmission deter...
