Here, we report a 4.98 Mbp draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Lille strain CRJJGF_000101, isolated from ground beef in 2007.
The complete genome sequence ofSalmonella entericaserovar Typhimurium strain SO2, isolated from an asymptomatic child in Mexico, was determined using PacBio single-molecule real-time technology. Strain SO2 has six complete chromosomal prophages, namely, ST104, Gifsy-2, ST64B, Gifsy-1, ELPhiS, and FSL SP-004, and carries aSalmonellavirulence plasmid.
Salmonella enterica bla(CTX-M-2) and bla(CTX-M-9) plasmid backbones from isolates from Belgium and France were analyzed. The bla(CTX-M-2-)plasmids from both human and poultry isolates were related to the IncHI2 pAPEC-O1-R plasmid, previously identified in the United States in avian Escherichia coli strains; the bla(CTX-M-9) plasmids were closely related to the IncHI2 R478 plasmid.
We report here the draft genome sequences of two Salmonella enterica serovar Kentucky eBurstGroup 15 isolates collected from poultry carcasses in Georgia (USA).
The gene for the Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis fimbrial protein SefA was cloned into an Escherichia coli surface expression vector and confirmed by Western blot assay. E. coli clones expressing SefA attached to avian ovary granulosa cells and HEp-2 cells, providing evidence for the involvement of SefA in the ability of Salmonella to attach to eukaryotic cells.
Screening of 7,680 Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis mutants for attenuation in a chicken macrophage infection model yielded a series of mutants including several with defects in previously unrecognized Salmonella virulence genes. One of the newly identified genes was the pbpA2 gene, belonging to the penicillin binding protein gene family.
1114 isolate 4 as donor, transconjugants were selected on MacConkey agar with 2 mg/L cefotaxime and 50 mg/L nalidixic acid. Both types of bla CTX-M-14-carrying plasmids proved to be conjugative (Figure 1a) and harboured the bla CTX-M-14 gene on an EcoRI-fragment of ∼18 kb. All three S. Enteritidis isolates showed closely related XbaI-PFGE-patterns, determined as previously described. 2 The only...
Recent data from microarray analysis have shown that integrated prophages are the most frequent sources of genomic variation between different strains of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium). This led us to hypothesize that PCR detection of the integrated prophages might be an efficient typing tool that could be used as an alternative to PFGE. In this study, we optimized fou...
We report the genome sequence of a monophasic Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica Typhimurium strain (TW-Stm6) isolated in Australia that is similar to epidemic multidrug-resistant strains from Europe and elsewhere. This strain carries additional antibiotic and heavy-metal resistance genes on a large (275-kb) IncHI2 plasmid.
