The Saxion University of Applied Sciences recently started its “Safety at Work” project. Its objective is to increase safety in the workplace by combining and applying state-of-the-art factors from Ambient Intelligence, Industrial & Product Design and Smart Materials [1]. The human factor plays a significant role in safety. Safety is related to incidents happening to people who get injured or e...

Exploration-exploitation of functions, that is learning and optimizing a mapping between inputs and expected outputs, is ubiquitous to many real world situations. These situations sometimes require us to avoid certain outcomes at all cost, for example because they are poisonous, harmful, or otherwise dangerous. We test participants’ behavior in scenarios in which they have to find the optimum o...

The paper presents a method for failure-free genetic algorithm optimization of a system controller. Genetic algorithms present a powerful tool that facilitates producing near-optimal system controllers. Applied to such methods of computational intelligence as neural networks or fuzzy logic, these methods are capable of combining the non-linear mapping capabilities of the latter with learning th...

Consistent stochastic orders of processing times and objective functions yield optimal policies in many stochastic scheduling problems. When these orders fail to hold, however, finding optimal values may be difficult. In this paper, we show how to bound these values in general situations including problems with unreliable machines and tardiness-based objectives.

A REGIMENTED PROGRAM OF RESISTANCE TRAINING CAN PROVIDE A MULTITUDE OF BENEFITS FOR THE PREGNANT WOMAN. HOWEVER, A WOMAN UNDERGOES SIGNIFICANT PHYSIOLOGICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES THROUGHOUT THE TERM, AND THESE ISSUES NEED TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT WHEN DESIGNING A ROUTINE. THEREFORE, THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER WILL BE 3-FOLD: (A) REVIEW THE BENEFITS OF MATERNAL RESISTANCE EXERCISE, (B) DISCUS...

Railway interlockings are dominated by highly proprietary systems. We present the development project Alister 2.0 – an interlocking system based on industry-proven standard components: Safety PLCs in distributed nodes communicate over safe network protocols. This enables a highly productive and highly maintainable fail-safe interlocking system for centralised traffic control.

Structural health monitoring of cracked structures is one of beloved subject of researchers recently. Consider of crack behavior in the water and energy pipeline is important because of environmental problems. In this paper consider of crack parameters in the underwater pipe subjected to mechanical transient load is investigated. For this purpose, three- dimensional parametric model of cracked ...
