A new scientifically based method for determining the right ventricle (RV) diastolic dysfunction (DD) uses concept of a comprehensive assessment leading pathofunctional and hemodynamic mechanisms development progression RV DD in heart failure, global remodeling. An independent examination sample patients with chronic failure showed that this has good reproducibility high accuracy 99.2 %.

Pseudoaneurysm (PSA) is a known but rare complication of the right ventricle to pulmonary artery (RV-PA) conduits. The patient's clinical presentation can be variable ranging from asymptomatic to potential rupture. We describe an unusual case of a massive PSA in an infant who underwent RV-PA pulmonary homograft placement after relief of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

In chronic pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension the right ventricle undergoes extensive remodeling (an increase in volume, a change in shape and an increase in wall thickness) that allows it to maintain an adequate right ventricular (RV) output at rest despite the high afterload. The anatomic characteristics of the pressure overloaded right ventricle have been described using various imaging te...

In heart failure (HF) with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), the magnitude of left ventricular (LV) contractile dysfunction which defines this group has proven an important prognostic marker and effective target for therapy. Measures of right ventricular (RV) contraction are not commonly quantified, but when they are they provide additional prognostic information. It is now well recognized tha...

Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Right ventricular myocardial work (RVMW) assessed by transthoracic echocardiography allows to study and analyze the right (RV) function non-invasively, using RV pressure-strain loops. The association between these novel indexes RVMW invasive hemodynamic parameters has not yet been extensively studied, namely in precapil...

Right ventricular (RV) pacing has been the mainstay of bradycardia therapy for several decades. However, recognition deleterious effects RV led to search more physiologic forms pacing. Physiological Pacing, including His bundle (HBP) and left branch (LBBP), recently shown have better synchronization ventricle, potentially reduces heart failure1,2. high-resolution activation patterns during diff...

backgroundasthma is the most chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in children and asthmatic patients can experience cardiac dysfunction, pulmonary hypertension and finally cor pulmonale later in life. we aimed to investigate right ventricular (rv) functions in asthmatic children by conventional and tissue doppler echocardiography (tde).materials and methods pulmonary function tests, con...

With great interest I read the article 'Reduced right ventricular ejection fraction in endurance athletes presenting with ven-tricular arrhythmias: a quantitative angio-graphic assessment' by Ector et al. 1 Even if invasive methods are employed, a thorough evaluation of the morphology and functions of the right ventricle (RV) may be difficult due to the complex geometry and anatomy. Examination...

The aim of this review article is to summarize current knowledge of the pathophysiology underlying right ventricular failure (RVF), focusing, in particular, on right ventricular assessment and prognosis. The right ventricle (RV) can tolerate volume overload well, but is not able to sustain pressure overload. Right ventricular hypertrophy (RVH), as a response to increased afterload, can be adapt...
