Background and Aims: Emerging antimicrobial resistance is one of the major public health threats worldwide. It can result in increased morbidity and mortality rates along with increased treatment costs and hospitalization stays. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become a global challenge. It is a major cause of nosocomial and community-acquired infections. Its prevalence va...

Background & Aims of the Study: Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is considered as a major pathogen in public health concern. The objectives of this study were to firstly determine antibiotic sensitivity among Staphylococcus aureus isolated from traditional Iranian white cheese during 2015 from Hamedan province of Iran; and secondly to estimate the presence of ...

Background and purpose: The aims of this study were to evaluate the antibiotic resistance of Healthcare-associated Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (HA-MRSA) and Community associated MRSA (CA-MRSA)-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus strains and to investigate the frequency of different types of spa typing, SCCmec I, II, III, IV, V, and type IV, among the strains of MRSA isol...

Aim and Background: Meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become one of the major public-health concerns in recent years due to resistance to antimicrobial drugs and agents. This Study aims to diagnose of MRSA isolates by molecular and phenotypic methods and to detect of the antibiotic resistance pattern in MRSA strains in clinical patient samples in Rasht. Material and Methods...

Background. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has created significant epidemiological, infection-control, and therapeutic management challenges during the past three decades. Aim. To analyze the pattern of resistance of healthcare- and community-associated MRSA in Egypt and the trend of resistance of HA-MRSA over time (2005-2013). Methods. MRSA isolates were recovered from heal...

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has been recently growing problem in small animal clinical practice due to increasing resistance to multiple number of antimicrobials. Present study reports about the antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of MRSA isolated from the dogs with recurrent pyoderma. Based on the cultural and biochemical studies 12 isolates were identified as Staphyloc...

Our objective was to determine the antibiotic susceptibility profiles of Staphylococcus aureus isolates recovered from 110 households of children with community-onset methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) infections. Cultures were obtained from household members, household objects, and dogs and cats, yielding 1,633 S. aureus isolates. The S. aureus isolates were heterogeneous, although more th...

We evaluated the new, fully automated molecular BD Max methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) assay for detection of methicillin-resistant S. aureus in a low-prevalence (4.1%) setting. Sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were 93.9%, 99.2%, 83.8%, and 99.7%, respectively. The assay reported fewer unresolved results than the BD GeneOhm MRSA ACP assay.

The pathogen has been found to cause a plethora of diseases such as blood stream infections, skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia and hospital acquired postoperative wound infections [2]. Though the diseases are treatable by the usage of antibiotics, emergence of multi drug resistant strains have been reported worldwide, thereby complicating the treatment of infections caused by Staphyloc...

The frequency of MRSA (Methicillin cephem resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infection has increased recently. A case of septicemia caused by MRSA is reported with discussion on its prophylaxis.
