The dynamics of inviscid multi-component relativistic fluids may be modeled by the relativistic Euler equations, augmented by one (or more) additional species equation(s). We use the highresolution staggered central schemes to solve these equations. The equilibrium states for each component are coupled in space and time to have a common temperature and velocity. The current schemes can handle s...

We consider nonlinear interactions between intense short electromagnetic waves (EMWs) and a relativistically hot electron plasma that supports relativistic electron holes (REHs). It is shown that such EMW-REH interactions are governed by a coupled nonlinear system of equations composed of a nonlinear Schro dinger equation describing the dynamics of the EMWs and the Poisson-relativistic Vlasov s...

We study the local-in-time hydrodynamic limit of the relativistic Boltzmann equation using a Hilbert expansion. More specifically, we prove the existence of local solutions to the relativistic Boltzmann equation that are nearby the local relativistic Maxwellian constructed from a class of solutions to the relativistic Euler equations that includes a large subclass of near-constant, non-vacuum f...

Strong magnetic fields in relativistic stars can be a cause of crust fracturing, resulting in the excitation of global torsional oscillations. Such oscillations could become observable in gravitational waves or in high-energy radiation, thus becoming a tool for probing the equation of state of relativistic stars. As the eigenfrequency of torsional oscillation modes is affected by the presence o...

We present a class of solutions to the discrete Painlevé-II equation for particular values of its parameters. It is shown that these solutions can be expressed in terms of Casorati determinants whose entries are discrete Airy functions. The analogy between the τ function for the discrete PII and the that of the discrete Toda molecule equation is pointed out.

Starting from the Schrödinger-equation of a composite system, we derive unified dynamics of a classical harmonic system coupled to an arbitrary quantized system. The classical subsystem is described by random phase-space coordinates entangled with the quantized variables of the complementary subsystem. Our semiclassical equation is true in a sense that its predictions are identical to those of ...

A new type of multi-soliton solution to the ultradiscrete Toda equation is proposed. The solution can be transformed into another expression of solution in a perturbation form. A direct proof of the solution is also given.

The Laplace sequence of the discrete conjugate nets is constructed. The invariants of the nets satisfy, in full analogy to the continuous case, the system of difference equations equivalent to the discrete version of the generalized Toda equation.

In previous work we introduced and studied a function R(a+, a−, c; v, v̂) that is a generalization of the hypergeometric function 2F1 and the Askey–Wilson polynomials. When the coupling vector c ∈ C is specialized to (b, 0, 0, 0), b ∈ C, we obtain a function R(a+, a−, b; v, 2v̂) that generalizes the conical function specialization of 2F1 and the q-Gegenbauer polynomials. The function R is the joi...
