The regularity property was first introduced by wavelet theory for octave-band “dyadic” filter banks. In this paper, we provide a detailed theoretical analysis of the regularity property in the more flexible case of filters banks with rational sampling changes. Such filter banks provide a finer analysis on fractions of an octave, and regularity is equally important as in the dyadic case. Sharp ...

Vortex-stretching and, consequently, the evolution of the vorticity is localized on an arbitrarily small space-time cylinder. This yields a complete localization of the geometric condition(s) for the regularity involving coherence of the vorticity direction. In particular, it implies the regularity of any geometrically constrained Leray solution independently of the type of the spatial domain o...

In this article, we prove the local C0,α regularity and provide C0,α estimates for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear, possibly degenerate, elliptic equations associated to linear or nonlinear Neumann type boundary conditions. The interest of these results comes from the fact that they are indeed regularity results (and not only a priori estimates), from the generality of the equations and ...

In this note we provide an example of an English auction with multi-dimensional signals, which satisfies the regularity conditions in Milgrom and Weber (1982), including affiliation and monotonicity. However, we demonstrate that a “reversal” may arise: an earlier dropout may be better news to the seller than a later dropout, and the expected revenue can be decreasing over some range of clock pr...

Under mild conditions, the Pareto set of a continuous multi-objective optimization problem exhibits certain regularity. We have recently advocated taking into consideration such regularity in designing multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. Following our previous work on using Local Principal Component Analysis for capturing the regularity, this paper presents a new approach for acquiring and...

Understanding decisions is a fundamental aim of behavioural ecology, psychology and economics. The regularity axiom of utility theory holds that a preference between options should be maintained when other options are made available. Empirical studies have shown that animals violate regularity but this has not been understood from a theoretical perspective, such decisions have therefore been la...

It is well known that a microperiodic function mapping a topological group into reals, which is continuous at some point is constant. We introduce the notion of a microperiodic multifunction, defined on a topological group with values in a metric space, and study regularity conditions implying an analogous result. We deal with Vietoris and Hausdorff continuity concepts.Stability of microperiodi...

We prove weighted anisotropic analytic estimates for solutions of second order elliptic boundary value problems in polyhedra. The weighted analytic classes which we use are the same as those introduced by Guo in 1993 in view of establishing exponential convergence for hp finite element methods in polyhedra. We first give a simple proof of the known weighted analytic regularity in a polygon, rel...

This paper studies regularity properties of the value function for an infinite-horizon discounted cost impulse control problem, where the underlying controlled process is a multidimensional jump diffusion with possibly ‘infinite-activity’ jumps. Surprisingly, despite these jumps, we obtain the same degree of regularity as for the diffusion case, at least when the jump satisfies certain integrab...

We consider the linear Primitive Equations of the ocean in the three dimensional space, with horizontal periodic and vertical Dirichlet boundary conditions. Thanks to Fourier transforms we are able to calculate explicitly the pressure term. We then state existence, unicity and regularity results for the linear time-depending Primitive Equations, with low-regularity right-hand side.
