Ultrasound examination plays an important role in both breast cancer screening and diagnostics. One of the drawbacks of the US examination is the uncertainty whether the whole breast was scanned. The proposed paper addresses the methodology how the completeness of the examination can be efficiently evaluated. We propose an affordable solution for simultaneously tracking and grabbing a video fro...
This paper deals with the notion of connectivity in viscous lattices. In particular, a new family of morphological connected filters, called connected viscous filters is proposed. Connected viscous filters are completely determined by two criteria: size parameter and connectivity. The connection of these filters is defined on viscous lattices in such a way that they verify several properties of...
The reassembly of fragments to reconstruct images and objects is a problem often encountered in several applications, ranging from archeology to medicine. In this paper we present a novel method for reassembling two 2D fragments. The proposed method is based on the information extracted from the outlines and from the color contents of the fragments, without relying on any knowledge of the final...
In this paper, we develop a set of conditions under which a sequence is uniquely specified by the phase or samples of the phase of its Fourier transform. These conditions are applicable to mixedphase one-dimensional and multi-dimensional sequences. Under the specified conditions, we also present several algorithms which may be used to reconstruct a sequence from its phase.
The challenges for current state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction algorithms covered in the Langweil model of Prague data set are summarized in this poster. The model properties are presented together with problems which bring.
Reconstructing vessels from sherds is a complex task, specially for hand made pottery. That is the case of the Iberian vessels. The reconstruction process can be done in three steps: orientation of the sherd, computing the symmetry axis and detecting the profile. This paper presents methods to accomplish these three tasks in a semi-automatic way. This algorithm has been implemented within a rec...
We compare two different implementations of a 3D SPECT system model for iterative reconstruction, both of which compensate for non-uniform photon attenuation and depth-dependent system response. One implementation performs fast rotation of images represented using a basis of rectangular voxels, whereas the other represents images using a basis of rotationally symmetric volume elements. In our s...

Motivated by the requirements of the present archaeology, we are developing an automated system for archaeological classification and reconstruction of ceramics. Due to the nature of ceramics, most of the excavated vessels are in the form of fragments called sherds. Only a few of the finds are complete, however these finds are the most important and interesting ones. Therefore we are developing...
STAR [1] is an active collider heavy-ion experiment at RHIC/BNL (Upton, USA). The main tracking detector of the experiment is the Time Projection Chamber (TPC). Due to the collision rate increasing (up to 40 KHz for Au+Au 200 GeV/n and up to 1 MHz for pp 500 GeV) and recording rate (up to 10 KHz) the STAR experiment requires a fast track reconstruction procedure which can deal with high track d...
