The prototype Silicon Tracking System comprised two stations based on double-sided silicon microstrip, ultrathin readout cables, and self-triggering readout electronics (Fig. 2-left). The detectors SPID-CBM02 originate from a cooperation with CiS, Erfurt, and have 256 orthogonal strips per side with 50 μm strip pitch. The detectors were assembled into boards at SE SRTIIE, Kharkov, Ukraine. The ...

Microfluidic devices present the basis of modern life sciences and chemical information processing. To control the flow and to allow optical readout, a reliable sensor material that can be easily utilized for microfluidic systems is in demand. Here, we present a new optical readout system for pH sensing based on pH sensitive, photoluminescent glutathione capped cadmium telluride quantum dots th...

ArDM is a new-generation WIMP detector which will measure simultaneously light and charge from scintillation and ionization of liquid argon. Our goal is to construct, characterize and operate a 1 ton liquid argon underground detector. The project relies on the possibility to extract the electrons produced by ionization from the liquid into the gas phase of the detector, to amplify and read out ...

An innovative Cylindrical Gas Electron Multiplier (CGEM) detector is under construction for the upgrade of inner tracker BESIII experiment. A novel system has been worked out readout CGEM detector, including a new ASIC, dubbed TIGER -Torino Integrated GEM Electronics Readout, designed amplification and digitization output signals. The data by are collected processed first FPGA-based module, Rea...

The present paper describes the work done at SLAC for the magnetostrictive wire spark chambers of SPEAR, LASS and the two-meter streamer chamber. All three are CAMAC systems based on the use of a time digitizer module with different interfacing techniques into three different computers (Sigma 5, PDP-9, PDP-11). Of particular interest is a display controller module that permits wide selection of...

Fourier transform analysis of the calorimeter noise problem gives quantitative results on a) the time-height correlation, b) the effect of background on optimal shaping and on the ENC, c) sampling frequency requirements, and d) the relation between sampling frequency and the required quantization error.

A new configuration realizing water quality monitoring device using ISFET involving CMOS differential voltage current conveyor (DVCC) based low pass filter free from trans-conductance variation using Low-voltage PMOS bulkdriven cascade current mirror (P MOS BDCCM) current mirrors is proposed. The circuit uses four DVCCs as active elements and together with two capacitors and five resistors as p...

It is shown that the addition of a low pass RC filter to the current ATLAS Tile Calorimeter 3-in-1 card decreases the high frequency noise. A peak in the output voltage is found for 29 Mhz input noise but is filtered out by the same low pass filter.

A wide variety of applications require a hard Xray or gamma ray detector which combine both good spatial resolution and energy resolution. Double-sided solid-state strip detectors provide this capability. We report on the development of CMOS electronics designed for photon detection with strip detectors. These electronics include a low noise preamplifier, semi-gaussian shaping amplifier, discri...

An unmodified wide-field fluorescence microscope system equipped with a scientific grade CCD camera can be used to measure fluorescent signals in subnanoliter vials. The lowest detectable fluorescence signal in a 0.8nl vial of 200 × 200 × 20μm corresponds to a concentration of fluorescent molecules on the order of a nanomolar (10−9M ) for a dye such as Rhodamine. This paper will explain that th...
