The general mission of naval fire support is to destroy, neutralize, or suppress enemy targets. Naval surface fire support (NSFS) may be provided by naval gunfire or naval air fire. For successful NSFS mission completion, one of the major requirements is to obtain reliable estimates of damage inflicted upon the enemy target. We consider the problem of estimating the probability that NSFS destro...
In this paper we present theoretical data in support of the unified indoor geolocation channel model namely (1) path loss and (2) multipath distribution models. First, the path loss model is currently accepted to be a function of the transmitter and receiver geometry and frequency of operation. Second, the most widely used and accepted indoor channel multipath distribution models are Nakagami w...
This paper presents a general fading distribution – the αDistribution – that includes the Nakagami-m and the Weibull as special cases. One-Sided Gaussian, Rayleigh, and Negative Exponential distributions are also special cases of the αDistribution.
Various characterizations of the distribution of the ratio of two independent Rayleigh random variables are presented. These characterizations are based, on a truncated moment; on hazard function; and on certain functions of order statistics.
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) with the late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) technique allows the detection of myocardial fibrosis in Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The aim of this study was to compare different methods of automatic quantification of LGE in HCM patients. METHODS Forty HCM patients (mean age 48 y, 30 males) and 20 normal subjects (mean age 38 y, 16 males) ...
Marcus, Spielman, and Srivastava in their seminal work [MSS13b] resolved the KadisonSinger conjecture by proving that for any set of finitely supported independently distributed random vectors v1, . . . , vn which have “small” expected squared norm and are in isotropic position (in expectation), there is a positive probability that the sum ∑ viv ⊺ i has small spectral norm. Their proof cruciall...
One of the applications with nonlinear nonstationary signals lies in mobile communications where nonlinear information bearing signals are faded by the time-varying propagation medium. Consequently, the envelope of the received signal is often modelled by a Rayleigh distribution. This Rayleigh fading severely degrades the performance of the mobile radio transmission system. Diversity reception ...
In this paper we introduce a new scheme of censoring and study it under the Weibull distribution. This scheme is a mixture of progressive Type II censoring and self relocating design which was first introduced by Srivastava [8]. We show the superiority of this censoring scheme (PSRD) relative to the classical schemes with respect to “asymptotic variance”. Comparisons are also made with respect ...
This paper analyzes the distribution and density functions of the probability of error for Rayleigh and Rician fading channels with diversity. An expression for the signal-to-noise ratio is derived for an asynchronous CDMA (A-CDMA) system with diversity. The error probability distribution and density functions are derived and plotted for different mean energy-to-noise ratios.
Introduction. A number of known families of probability distributions can be derived from requirements that are physical in the sense that they describe the random behavior of the event under consideration. The Poisson process is typical of these: If X{t) is equal to the number of occurrences of a specified event in the interval [0, t), then one can show that X (t) has, for each t, a Poisson di...
