Photostable donor–acceptor–donor fluorophores, which have a central quinoxaline acceptor nucleus, been used in LSCs, obtaining outstanding results for modern building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV).
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(14)N(2)O, contains three independent mol-ecules. The dihedral angles between the quinoxaline and phenyl planes in the three mol-ecules are 82.58 (8), 85.66 (9) and 85.36 (9)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
In the title compound, C(14)H(9)BrN(2), the benzene and quinoxaline rings are almost coplanar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0285 (3) Å and dihedral angle = 2.1 (2)°].
