The relationship between the coincidence indices of a lattice Γ1 and a sublattice Γ2 of Γ1 is examined via the colouring of Γ1 that is obtained by assigning a unique colour to each coset of Γ2. In addition, the idea of colour symmetry, originally defined for symmetries of lattices, is extended to coincidence isometries of lattices. An example involving the Ammann-Beenker tiling is provided to i...
We review recent results which relate spectral theory of discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators over strictly ergodic systems to uniform existence of the Lyapunov exponent. In combination with suitable ergodic theorems this allows one to establish Cantor spectrum of Lebesgue measure zero for a large class of quasicrystal Schrödinger operators. The results can also be used to study non-u...
We numerically investigate the electromagnetic field localization in a two-dimensional photonic quasicrystal generated with a holographic tiling. We demonstrate that light confinement can be induced into an air mirrorless cavity by the inherent symmetry of the spatial distribution of the dielectric scatterers forming the side walls of the open cavity. Furthermore, the propagation direction can ...
Atomically thin metallic alloy consisting of five elements can be utilized for hydrogen evolution and oxygen generation. The two-dimensional multicomponent alloys are synthesized using their quasicrystal bulk form. More details found in article number 2200860, Douglas S. Galvao, Chandra Tiwary, Arup Dasgupta, Krishanu Biswas, co-workers.
T . This can now be used to find all patterns in LI(P) with special symmetries (relative to the origin) which is a standard procedure in crystallography. For repetitive, but non-crystallographic P , however, the LI-class has a much richer structure and contains uncountably many (20) translation classes. It is thus much more difficult to classify the complete symmetry structure of such classes, ...
To demonstrate that crystallographic methods can be applied to index and interpret diffraction patterns from well-ordered quasicrystals that display non-crystallographic 5-fold symmetry, we have characterized the properties of a series of periodic two-dimensional lattices built from pentagons, called Fibonacci pentilings, which resemble aperiodic Penrose tilings. The computed diffraction patter...
Strongly correlated systems in non-Hermitian models are an emergent area of research. Here, the author considers hopping dynamics two fermions a quasicrystal with complex phase, unraveling non-Hermitian-induced mobility edges and tendency to stick together, forming doublon state long time limit evolution, phenomenon that can be dubbed particle bunching.

A 3-dimensional quasiperiodic lattice with overlapping unit cells is constructed using grid and projection methods pioneered by de Bruijn. Using Kronecker’s theorem the frequencies of all possible types of overlapping are found.
