where • Ai is the amplitude of the i th useful signal; • τi is the code phase delay introduced by the transmission channel; • ci(t − τi) is the spreading sequence which is given by the product of several terms and it is assumed to take value in the set {−1, 1}; • di(t − τi) is the navigation message, Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) modulated, containing satellite data, each binary unit is call...

A new group-delay based spectral domain is explored for representation of speech signals and for extraction of robust features. The spectrum is computed using the group-delay functions defined on the autocorrelation of a short segment of speech. The features derived from this spectrum are easy to compute and are robust to the background noise. The invariance of the spectral shape to noise in th...

S U M M A R Y I calculate three-dimensional (3-D) sensitivity kernels of multimode surface wave observables in radially anisotropic earth media for perturbations in wave speeds αH, αV, βH, βV and η as well as in density ρ. The 3-D phase-delay and amplitude kernels are formulated based upon Born approximation in the framework of surface wave mode summation, fully accounting for cross-branch mode...

Beam-steering techniques are required to fully exploit terahertz imaging systems. We propose and model a device employing artificial dielectric techniques to provide a variable phase-control medium. The device consists of two interlocking artificial dielectric surfaces that are initially aligned parallel to each other. By mechanically introducing a relative tilt between the plates, a transmitte...

A compact ultra-wideband microstrip-fed planar monopole antenna with dual band-notch characteristic is presented. Dual notched frequency bands are achieved by embedding an M-slot in the radiating patch and a W-slot in the ground beneath the feeding line. And the characteristics of the dual band-notched can be controlled by adjusting the length and position of the corresponding slot. Experimenta...

A scalable lumped element equivalent circuit of a pre-matched, multifinger FET cell is proposed. The model is derived using a global modeling approach that exploits both circuit and full wave analysis, accounting for phase delay along gate and drain manifolds. The availability of such model is useful to perform fast performance analysis and optimization of the pre-matching network.

Phase processing has been replaced by group delay processing for the extraction of source and system parameters from speech. Group delay functions are ill-behaved when the transfer function has zeros that are close to unit circle in the z-domain. The modified group delay function addresses this problem and has been successfully used for formant and monopitch estimation. In this paper, modified ...

In this paper, using an inverse scattering approach, we describe how the selection of mode effective indices and thus phase velocities can be used to control group velocity in a waveguide. As such it is shown that differential group delay can be equalised or minimised over a wavelength of choice. A particular feature of the new designs is the development of rings and a peaked core which may spl...

A highly accurate client-independent geolocation service stands to be an important goal for the Internet. Despite an extensive research effort and significant advances in this area, this goal has not yet been met. Motivated by the fact that the best results to date are achieved by utilizing additional ’hints’ beyond inherently inaccurate delay-based measurements, we propose a novel geolocation ...

In this paper, a new method of estimation of the magnitude square coherence function (MSC) by an ARMA model is proposed. The estimation is achieved by modeling the periodogram estimate of the MSC and the ARMA model has been realized by the pole-zero decomposition property of the group delay function (GDF). Its performance has been found to be superior to that of the periodogram MSC estimate in ...
