The crystal structure of a specimen of `Pb-rich' chabournéite from Jas Roux, Hautes-Alpes, France, with the chemical formula obtained by electron microprobe analysis of Ag(0.04 (1))Tl(2.15 (2))Pb(0.64 (1))Sb(5.12 (1))As(5.05 (1))S(17.32 (5)), has been solved by X-ray single-crystal diffraction on the basis of 36,550 observed reflections (with F(o) > 4σF(o)) with a final R1 = 0.074. Pb-rich chab...

Prostate cancer is one of the most promising candidates for sodium iodide symporter (NIS)-mediated gene therapy. Adenovirus-mediated expression of NIS that is driven by prostate-specific promoters induces generous radioiodine accumulation in prostate cancer cells that may be used for therapy with (131)I. We have recently developed a replication-deficient adenovirus carrying the human NIS cDNA l...

In early pregnancy, the O(2) gradient between the maternal circulation and the gestational sac tissues modulates trophoblast biological functions. The aim was to evaluate if placental partial pressure of oxygen (PaO(2)) modulates in vivo synthesis of specific placental proteins inside the first trimester gestational sac. Matched samples of peripheral venous blood, blood from the placental bed (...

The polymeric structure of the title compound, [Pb(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)](n), is built up from centrosymmetric [Pb(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)](2) dimers, which are bridged by ligand carboxyl-ate O atoms. The Pb(II) ion adopts an irregular PbN(2)O(5) coordination polyhedron; it is chelated by one N,O-bidentate ligand and also bonds to a water O atom. A second N,O-bidentate ligand forms th...

In the title structure, [Pb(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)](n), the Pb(II) ion is six-coordinated by two pyridazine-3-carboxyl-ate ligands via N and O atoms, with the carboxyl-ato O atoms acting as bidentate and bridging adjacent Pb(II) ions, giving rise to catenated mol-ecular ribbons propagating along the a-axis direction. The ribbons are connected by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and van der Waals inter-actions.

BACKGROUND Lead is a heavy toxic metal element in biological systems and is one of the major pollutants as a result of its widespread use in industries. In spite of its negative roles the coordination chemistry of Pb(II) complexes is a matter of interest. The N,N'-bidentate aromatic bases such as BPY,4-BPY and PHEN (BPY = 2,2'bipyridine, 4-BPY = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, PHEN = 1,10-Phenan...

Experiments were performed in C57BL/6J male mice to determine the effects of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor pyridostigmine bromide (PB) and stress on cardiovascular function, structure, and apoptosis. Mice were studied for seven days under the following conditions: Controls (osmotic minipump with saline), PB (10 mg/kg/day, minipumps), shaker stress (45 stressors/day, minipump with saline...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of paracervical block (PB) and IV sedation (IVS) on women's pain perception during operative hysteroscopy. METHODS A total of 84 patients with uterine polyps were randomized to either PB or IV sedation or general anesthesia (GA) as control group. In PB group, the patients received oral diazepam 10 mg and 100 mg diclofenac Na su...

Lead contamination at shooting range soils is of great environmental concern. This study focused on weathering of lead bullets and its effect on the environment at five outdoor shooting ranges in Florida, USA. Soil, plant, and water samples were collected from the ranges and analyzed for total Pb and/or toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) Pb. Selected bullet and berm soil samples ...
