By means of a three critical points theorem proposed by Brezis and Nirenberg and a general version of Mountain Pass Theorem, we obtain some multiplicity results for periodic solutions of a fourth-order discrete Hamiltonian system ∆u(t− 2) +∇F (t, u(t)) = 0, for all t ∈ Z.

This study investigates the variance and invariance in speech rate as a reflection of conceptual planning and cognitive rhythm. A four-frame comic strip was used to elicit speech and low-pass smoothing was done afterwards to filter out high frequency noise. Results showed that subjects invariably planned narration in terms of story plots. Variance lies in the way subjects synchronize planning a...

This letter describes a zero-speed start-up method of a speed sensorless stator-flux-oriented direct vector-controlled induction motor drive with the help of a machine current model that does not use any speed signal. The machine starts smoothly with vector control at finite developed torque and then transitions to the standard direct vector-control mode with the voltage model signals as the sp...

in this paper, gaussian and elliptic high pass filters are analyzed for image sharpening qualitatively and quantatively . the filters are implemented in frequency domain using matlab software. experiments are performed to compare the performance of both the filters ,processed images are presented. the results demonstrate that elliptic yields better results.

conclusions kannada children with rd were particularly poor on simultaneous and successive processing. our results support the heterogeneity view of rd. results independent-samples t tests (two-tailed) showed significant difference between the groups on all the pass component subtests. the pass scores of children with rd were scattered unevenly around the average to well below the average range...

This paper studies boosting algorithms that make a single pass over a set of base classifiers. We first analyze a one-pass algorithm in the setting of boosting with diverse base classifiers. Our guarantee is the same as the best proved for any boosting algorithm, but our one-pass algorithm is much faster than previous approaches. We next exhibit a random source of examples for which a “picky” v...

Lab pages Major labs, especially those working on a single experimental organism, increasingly share their experience through the web. Nematode researchers, for example, will find useful worm-specific material at http://www.dartmouth.edu/artsci/bio/ ambros/protocols.html. It seems Drosophila labs are more shy when it comes to sharing protocols, but the contribution from Rich Carthew’s lab (http...

Trade promotions are the most important promotional tool available to a manufacturer. However trade promotions can achieve their objective of increasing short-term sales only if the retailer passes through these promotions. Empirical research has documented that there is a wide variation in retail pass-through across products. However little is known about the variations in pass-through over ti...

Introduction Artificially increasing the sparsity of an image before reconstruction has been used to improve the performance of partially parallel imaging techniques [1, 2]. Similar to the requirement of explicit sensitivity maps, an explicit image support (non-zero regions) definition is also required to take fully advantage of image sparsity in conventional SENSE [3]. However, it is not trivi...
