In this paper we discuss ongoing work considering ways of interacting with paper maps, posters and static kiosks using mobile devices. A technical implementation permitting lens-like interaction with maps is presented, employing a combination of short-range RFID and a smartphone camera. The approach is promising for truly mobile, ad-hoc interaction with paper maps and similar artefacts.
